Once we stay up, I think we need to add a few key players.

LB and ST are priorities.

Mykolenko has a good game here and there but we need a more offensive balance. Potentially we have Nkounkou who has been on loan with Cardiff and more successfully Saint-Etienne but he is still very raw but perhaps a pre-season we could save a fee for a new player if he doesn't get sold before.

DCL had proved in these short how vital he is to our game but injuries are piling up so we need a backup. We have Simms and Cannon who still a bit green so we need an experience forward who will complement our play.
Agree we need quality LB. How about Marcos Acuna? Argentine World Cup winning LB - tackles everything that moves, plays for Seville, 31 years of age and only 1 year left on his contract so Sevilla will possibly consider selling. Most notably according to websites he's on wages which range between £30k to £50k per week - yes that an awful lot less than the £70k per week we waste paying Mason Holgate.

Where's the long-term thought process there though? Year, 2 max out of him then what. Got no one.

Not against Pickford sale if finances dictate but would rather take a punt on an experienced old head for a couple of seasons. For Leeds and Saints their young keepers have been factors in why they are struggling no doubt. I recall Nigel Martyn coming in as a safe pair of hands back in the day got a couple of years. Someone like that

Im not sure theres any around comparable with the Martyn situation.

Didn’t read a word after you mentioned Bazunu. He’s been utterly horrific at Southampton.
Has he, or is he suffering due to the overall team? Salisu and Lavia have still looked good.
Mamardashvili at Valencia is another.

£70m only give us £56m. Need to hold onto him for the long term alongside Garner.

If United want him £50-60mil for a 29 year old would be good business.
Good keeper Henderson mate, id look at that deal if decent money was involved.
Built up by the media then dropped off when they realised he wasnt actually very good.

I agree, tbh if I was a united fan, I d want to give Henderson a chance and spend the money on a central defender. Pickford is the better player, though.

Considering where things were in relation to the real potential he could leave on a free, I would welcome anything at or north of 30 million. Funds are scarce and considering his age he's better use as funds than on the pitch. Factor other Prem clubs likely looking to address Keeper, it would be wise to sell him if we stay up or not.

Quick draft of possible prospect replacements. Fees via Transfermarkt.

Alban Lafont, France, 24, Nantes, 20 million
One of the most touted Keeper prospects in the world right now, so may be a stretch for us. That said with Nantes possibly going down and a move seeming inevitable its the first place to call.

Lucas Chevalier, France, 21, Lille, 10 million
Since Maignan left Lille has had a seamless transition to their youth product. Has grown even more this season. I would think a reasonable target especially if we stay up and can offer number one seat.

Michele Di Gregorio, Italy, 25, Monza, 7 million
The inter youth product has been great with promoted Monza. With a crazy workload in their scheme has shown himself one of the best young Italian keepers.

Bart Verbruggen, Holland, 20, Anderlecht, 5 million
Almost moved to Burnley before they went with Muric. Another year in Belgium and he's excelled earning a Dutch call up. Would seem a viable target.

Chevalier and Verbruggen are highly rated
Alemdar (Rennes)
Trubin (Shakhtar)
Mamardashvili (Valencia)
Bazunu (Southampton)

...and more.

May need to move Begovic as well with him being 36 next month.

Could do with a young keeper and another 30-33.

Anyone remember about 3 years ago when anyone saying the phrase "resale value" was mocked endlessly? Because pretty sure the Premier League doesn't see it as funny these days.

I'd have thought 2 - 3 years from a quality footballer is what we need now more than anything after 2 relegation battles - we need short term stability rather than thinking long term. But then Ishe Samuel Smith, who will be 19/20 and is an outstanding prospect, could possibly come in if he's good enough to make the step up. Learning from a world cup winner couldn't do him or other players any harm.

I dont think begovic's Age is a concern really. Obviously keepers last longer, but he's also not been hammering his body in matches regularly either so he should be fine to be back up for another season or so.

Considering the other positions that need focusing on, probably not worth worrying about anytime soon.
