Yes it’s not always just about like for like but I would argue that’s we would have got Tarkowski regardless of selling Richy because he was on a free. The reduction of Richarlisons salary may have help us be competitive with Tarks’ salary…that’s all. My general point is we have a history of selling our best players and replacing them with inferior players. We have slid down the table over the last few years as a result. Selling JP would not bode well for next season based on what history tells us is likely (not definite) would happen
No you're right I'm not including Tarkowski. But I'd say Onana, Maupay, McNeil and Garner are all because of that sale. I'll take those four over the one and I'll probably do it again this summer.

If we signed Branthwaite from PSV for big money wouldnt he go straight into the 11 ?

Seems the same point can be made after his performances for us and PSV.

Also we could sell all 3 and sign 2 replacements.
Huge difference between the leagues. Apparently consistency issue at that age. We are talking about signing 2 new players and Branthwaite coming in. Can see Dyche keeping Keane somehow.

Yeah I’d say it was mixed in terms of its success, I’d like a better hit rate in this next window if possible - they all don’t have to be 100% ballers but i think the report was that we were after six incomings so there’s a lot of players to try and get right. It will be interesting to see to what level the type of player changes as mutually agreed by KT and SD

I'm not even a huge Garner guy but having a combo of him and Onana was so much better than playing Davies and Gomes. McNeil did enough to replace Richarlison too. We were better off.

And selling Pickford wouldn't even be replacing the hard part of football recruitment. It remains a no brainer to me

I see what you are saying….just depends on what value we could get for him for it to be worthwhile …..not convinced myself that it would work for us

I think Gomes will look a much better player again with runners around him. Didn't we try to play him in a two man midfield? Used to do my head in when Frank tried to play 2 in the middle and we would get the runaround in midfield when the opposition played 3.

I understand your argument but where is the proof, results wise, to show we were better off last season compared to the season before? At best, it seems to me, we shifted the weakness around a little. (I'm open-minded on the Pickford sale, by the way)

Yeah the results aren't going to show up with this management which really is the whole problem here. We need players to develop and get better in a sound system and as long as we don't have that there's not going to be improvement no matter who plays for us.

To me both teams were bad but I'd prefer the 22/23 team. And I'm likely going to prefer the 23/24 team if we move on Pickford and buy outfield players.

When confident and playing in a team doing well, he is a very good passer and a good player to have available. If he lacks confidence and plays for a team threatened by relegation, he is usually very poor and without value to the squad.
Either way, i dont think he fits the Dyche way of playing.
