We should be trying for players who will get double figures. Not saying Harrison wouldn’t be a good buy but we need much more.

McNeill is potentially the only player we have who could break double figures based on his form last season (although he doesn’t have much of a goal record prior to that). None of the midfielders are getting many, perhaps a few for Doucoure. Gray and Iwobi won’t contribute many. The strikers are non existent.

You don't really know if players are gonna get double figures though. It's not guaranteed.

McNeil had a bit fat 0 goals for Burnley the other season. Bags 7 for us.

Harrison for example has had 3 seasons in the premiership and already has more goals than Iwobi has his whole career. Got more assists than him in that time too.

The issue is goals from every area, not just from attack.

We should always be thinking big picture and failure to do that is why we are where we are
Honestly, mate, I agree but we are where we are. I don't see Dyche and Everton 2023 as a long term project. We are still firefighting. If the board mess gets sorted out then surely we will bring in some wise heads who are capable of developing a longer term strategy. Until then the question is: can we finish above Luton and who may help us do it?

I think we have to go for a creative player. I know people think just spamming strikers at a goal scoring problem fixes it but there are creativity concerns, there are midfield concerns and there are tactical concerns as well.
Can have this bloke for a couple of quid

That’s my point though, it’s highly unlikely we’ve got the ability to swap out most of the team. I’d imagine that Gueye Garner Onana Docuoure will form the basis of our midfield next season. I doubt we’re suddenly going to see a goalscoring left back brought in.

So the only area of the team we can really do anything about is the attack. Harrison is undoubtedly an improvement on what we have but he’s not enough by himself. We need another two strikers in and arguably another player who can cover all forward positions.

We are linked to every Leeds player under the sun. Johnny Giles said he isn't interested cause he thinks we'll go down.
If Johnny Giles thinks we're going down then we are definitely competing for CL next season lol
He's a shocking pundit
e.g. criticising the RS's high line one time when they'd had about 12 clean sheets on the bounce
He compares everything to the 70s as if his leeds team were the peak of football both past and future

Goals wise I think...

Attack needs a 1st choice striker and (if the squad is the same) another wide theat.

Midfield need a creative CM who can chip in.

I mean...Gyokeres, Harrison, Gallagher (for eg) makes us look balanced and half decent.

Squad wise...
Another 1st choice CB
Left back (back up/competition)
Right back (backup/competition)

6-7 players.

The question about Harrison shouldn't be "does he improve us now?" The question should be "in 3 years will he be at the level we want the team to be at after 3 years of properly rebuilding the squad?" The answer for me is firmly no and as such he shouldn't be considered really at any price but certainly not at a big chunk like 15m.
What level are you expecting us to be at in 3 years? If anything players like Harrison would be a stop gap 3 years and then hopefully some sell on value with 2 years remaining offers far more than the likes of maupay, Davies, Iwobi any current signing should be about does he improve us right now and get us away from a relegation scrap if yes then potentially sign. It’s going to be a slow process rebuilding so if we can replace players who can at least start or compete for places over the likes of Davies, maupay, mykolenko,Coleman, patterson, holgate, Godfrey, DCL, Simms, Keane Not have 2 keepers on the bench now looking back at all that surely Harrison doesn’t seem such a bad idea?

There's no fire right now. We have the same number of points as everyone else. We shouldn't be signing a bunch of 19 year Olds that aren't ready but there's a tier of player that is both good enough now and possessing and upside that could make us quite a bit better in a few years that we should be after.

Well it's an honourable position and it pains me to play the pragmatist...but I can't go through another final day of the season like that again. If that means Harrison and his ilk and 15th place then I'll take it

But you're not guaranteeing that with a player like Harrison AND you're also delaying long term improvement for another year. It's literally the worst of both worlds.
