He scored 3 goals last season, in Ligue 1.Is Dembele any good? Banged in a few at Celtic but hasn't done much at Lyon? I saw him for Atletico Madrid when he was on loan and he looked well out of place.
Who?
I'm saying everything we do should consider the future some not only consider it.You need a blend. If we only look 3 years ahead the premier league will be a distant memory by the time it comes
You are right but I don't think we have the money to spend to get that calibre of player as well as a striker. We should be trying for players who will get double figures. Not saying Harrison wouldn’t be a good buy but we need much more.
McNeill is potentially the only player we have who could break double figures based on his form last season (although he doesn’t have much of a goal record prior to that). None of the midfielders are getting many, perhaps a few for Doucoure. Gray and Iwobi won’t contribute many. The strikers are non existent.
Honestly baffles me how many professional players are terrible at direct free kicks. Used to stick them top-bins for fun when I was a kid, and I weren’t even very good at footy. They won't get Ward-Prowse, but they need to find a guy that can score on free kicks. They will never be able to do enough in the transfer window to dramatically improve their scoring, but if your key to survival is going to be 1-0 and 2-1 wins having a chance to score on free kicks could be critical.
The problem is that if we don't sort the "NOW " bit immediately, in three years time we may be in the championship. The question about Harrison shouldn't be "does he improve us now?" The question should be "in 3 years will he be at the level we want the team to be at after 3 years of properly rebuilding the squad?" The answer for me is firmly no and as such he shouldn't be considered really at any price but certainly not at a big chunk like 15m.
Wrong. But you're not guaranteeing that with a player like Harrison AND you're also delaying long term improvement for another year. It's literally the worst of both worlds.
The market I'm talking about is not the one where we bought any of those players. There's a whole middle ground where the players can step in and play while also developing. I don't want guys who need u23s time. Basically the Onana types but maybe not always that expensive.Wrong.
Bring in established players like Harrison make us stronger, safer in the division.
That will make us more attractive to young players from abroad or the lower divisions that can be signed for lesser sums and then developed.
We have had substantial success in that market and have developed those players well.
DCL, Stones, Holgate, Branthwaite come to mind.
I’d love to be an average team, right now we’re below average actually we’re a poor side scraping premier league survival 2 years running any excitement of James type player or significant managerial appointment like ancelotti has long gone and the future is very uncertain if we can steady the ship and in 3 years or so we can start bringing players in similar to what Brighton have done then that’s progress trying to find them now is too risky in my opinion we seen what that does with Patterson and mykolenko wrong signings at the wrong time. The idea that buying players with upside isn't pragmatic enough is so frustrating. The only sensible approach isn't buying average at best PL players in a desperate attempt at being an average team.
Not been relevant for a good long while, though. His heyday was 50 years ago.One of the slyest and dirtiest players I have ever seen.
Nope, nothing.Big J, The Johnsta, JG,
