Dream on... .and just how are we going to pay him.... "Excuse me Mr. Philips, would you be prepared to take a pay cut, come to a club that will win nothing, and we'll pay you in peanuts?" "Sure, I'll sign up right now."
Tbf, he did say loan. Usually the parent club would pay half if not a bigger ammount of the wages

I’m sorry but that’s exactly what the question should be for some of our business this window. We need to strengthen now to avoid another season like the last two. if we can afford then yes get someone in who will have value for us in three years or so, but the environment has to be right for that slightly longer term planning you have in mind and the current circumstances are not right for that. Unfortunately we are currently living hand to mouth so survival is key.
If you think like this you never stop surviving. And then eventually you die.

Er you contribute to his wages? He cost City £50m, so his wages will be significant ….we attempt to negotiate it where we contribute to his wages. You know, like we contribute to others wages when they leave us on loan? It’s not a new concept, even if unlikely

This isn't football manager
We don't get to buy all the wonderkids and watch them rip it up

We were 35min from relegation last season
'does he improve us now?' is absolutely the question
I mean I don't know what your cutoff for kids is but I'm talking guys who are 21 to 24. Basically I want players who are going to reach the end of their deals and be at an age where they still might be able to be moved or we can give them another deal and it won't take them to the very end of their careers. If you do this then you can actually build squad strength instead of reaching the end of each player's deal and having to sign someone to directly replace them.

Ain't going to happen. Aside from the wages, do you think he wants a relegation battle? He'll have better options than us should City decide to let him go.

Agreed, it’s just where do you draw the line between investing for now with no real medium term to longer term value and investing for the future? I think there is too much risk still for us to invest in youth if they are not quite ready for this level. Ultimately what you are saying is where I’d want to get to, but off the back of two season relegations (so not just a one off poor season) we simply cannot afford to do it at the moment, I would want a minimum number of positions and points clear before thinking about it.

Yep possibly, but I was thinking a local lad (as in North of England), only 27, just one year into his Man City career so plenty of time to do well with us and get back into the City fold (there a Euros next year as well and he’s only two years in from being an England regular). There would ebe other suitors of course e.g. possibly Newcastle but if we don't ask we don't get. I think hes the type of midfielder Dyche would love.

That's all fine
But we also need to stay in the league
There is no player between 21 and 24 that is better than Harrison that we can realistically attract/afford
