Summer transfer window 2023

So in theory he could play alongside DCL?

I mean that particular transfer strategy was the beginning of all this because you had the likes of Gareth Barry (who I loved having here don't get me wrong) coming to the end of their career instead of getting better and building season upon season.

Getting Rom papered over a lot. We bought Kone and Alcaraz in that same window. None signed a second contract here. Sure maybe a mix is good but the mix should be more along the lines of 5 players under 25 for every old dude. We signed Gueye and Tarkowski last summer so the old dude quote is filled up.
I think last summer is a pretty good model of how to do things. It’s not really about quotas of young / old signings but how you invest in them: Tarkowski and Gana were free, Coady was a loan, and the only transfer fees went on the younger investments. Hopefully that’s the sign of a coherent policy at last.

I did think it a bit strange how simms' only starts were at Anfield and Old Trafford. 2 of the most difficult grounds to go to for any team and 2 grounds were we, as a team, normally get our pants pulled down.
Same but every time i see maupay on the pitch for us makes sense. Even the last game we had to win he still didnt get on i think simms was just the best option after gray. Dont think he rates any of them, if we can get money for
him i just hope it means we will be getting strikers in

Yeah and that the get cover in every position this season, i was happy with the coady loan but we really need take adavantage and use up all the lon spaces with players who can make an impact

On how many occasions did we say that last season and the season before and the season before and...?

They may be 'winnable' but we don't currently have the squad or team balance to do something as achievable as winning three on the bounce. Hopefully, a few correct additions to the squad during this transfer window may provide encouragement in this regard but I ain't counting no eggs at this moment in time.

Well this is kind of my point.

Business needs to be dont in key areas before the start of the season, as we have on paper 3 winnable games.

we need a lot more: add Davies to that list, hopefully Godfrey. Can see Simms and Gray going, maybe even Iwobi if he doest want to renew his contract. And hope we flog Gomes / Gbamin but they were not part of the playing squad last season.

"Gomes & Gbamin are like new signings"

sigh.

We might end up with a squad that includes Iwobi, Garner, Onana, Doucoure, Gana Gueye, Davies, Gbamin and Gomes.
