Summer transfer window 2023

The big transfer out to help the books happened in January so don’t think there’s any panic to sell by July 1 this year. It’s probably the reason there’s not been anything in though.
I hope that that's the case. If there is no big transfer out, then in theory at least they must be reasonably happy with having enough in the kitty and cash freed up in spare wages to do business without needing to sell Pickford/Onana to fund a large portion of it. That in itself runs contrary to all of the sell to buy analyses I've seen, but I guess like everything, we'll just have to see.

Club could sell onana and have deadline like last season with rich after next season. As others have said with them trying sell gomes holgate gray ect. But well honestly have no idea how the club works

I doubt Keane will be going anywhere, we could probably get a higher fee for him if he did. Coleman is also staying for at least another season.

I reckon Gray is on his way out too.

I think Tarkowski, Godfrey, Branthwaite plus a new CB signing would be ample cover at centre back allowing Keane to go?

You’re probably right about Coleman; personally feel that we shouldn’t have offered him a new contract. Should let him retire gracefully and bring in a new RB (Walker-Peters).

Gray should go if the price is right. Otherwise we sort out the other positions this summer whilst keeping Gray as a serviceable wide player then readdress in January / next summer.

I think the point here is that 1st July is your new financial year. We've banked the Gordon and Kean money in this financial year, which offsets the spending on Gueye, Garner, McNeil, Onana and Maupay (🤢) and should see us break even for the year or maybe even post a small profit.

When we are into the new financial year, it becomes another situation where wages are still too high (even after seeing Mina etc depart), so balancing the books (quite apart from knowing what sort of cash flow we have to fund any transfers) will almost certainly mean that we need to find some players to sell to make an accounting profit on - Demarai Gray is an obvious one because he was bought for buttons, so whatever we sell him for will be almost pure profit on the accounts. Holgate would be in the same situation (which is why rumours of a loan move seem odd). Effectively we are going to need to sell some players where we can post a fair bit of profit on the books to allow us the FFP wiggle room to make signings. After that, you've got room to manoeuvre, but even then none of us really know how much cash is there in the business to fund any signings right now - it's perfectly plausible that we need to sell first to generate actual cash to make payments

I'd like to be wrong, but I just can't see Keane leaving this summer. Dyche clearly doesn't like Holgate, so you'd be surprised to see him still here. Has he played Godfrey at CB in any games at all yet? Not sure, but he's largely been a disaster under Dyche so I'd be surprised if Dyche wanted to rely on him. Branthwaite looks a real prospect, but he's so young (in centre back terms) that again it'd be a brave manager to put all his eggs in that basket. He knows Tarkowski and Keane and for that reason alone (and their experience) I'd be surprised to see either leave. I'd agree that we probably still need another (more experienced) centre back, maybe on loan, because Dyche may understandably be nervous if we got an injury to Tarkowski etc and then had to rely on a youngster playing for an extended period of time. It may well be that Branthwaite simply plays on merit, but that one's a tough one to gamble on.

Our fans are so weird, it's one more trophy than we have won recently. I will never understand this turning our nose up at ANY cup. It's good for the players, it's good for the fans, it's good for morale and generally leads to higher European competition.

A tin cup that we can't even qualify for, some people need to get with reality.

People used to say that about the Europa League, don’t want to be in it because it’ll affect our league form and hurt our quest to qualify for the Europa League.

We’re being raided by WEST HAM?.
You know how the media love to bring Everton down, we're not sending any players there unless we want them to go.

There's no way that the likes of Onana will make a big push to go to another relegation threatened team, even if they have qualified to the UEFA Cup.

Especially for the rumoured 40mil that Paul brown I think his name is. Supposedly a journalist and Everton fan, but is as negative as the esk when it comes to all things everton

When you say fans its a just the usual contrarian. Majority would love to win it.

The bit I dont understand about all this FFP is that we have also benefited from the biggest TV deal, we sell out every game, we havent spent any meaningful sums for a while and we have had some of our biggest earners off the books.

Its not like we havent had income that we would have been able to spend- add to that all the big sales we've had- surely there has to be some wiggle room in regards to spending.

If they pay over £70m I don’t care if it’s Prescott Cables signing him.

Got to have faith that the same person who identified Onana can identify 2 more like him (at least) for the money.

Just need to find someone new to sign forwards lol

Coleman always useful in the right side of a back 3 I’ve thought.

Would 100% be going for KWP though
