But in the paragraph you've highlighted, I'm not insulting a difference of opinion over a manager, player, coach or match. I'm bemoaning the long standing issue, witnessed on these pages many times, of our fans constantly moaning about how rubbish we are now and how we've been left behind, whilst continually advocating for/excusing the kind of decisions that have put us there.
Yes I get the cognitive dissonance thing and agree. It's down to fear, I think. The change in approach required so that we are not repeating the same pattern of selling to buy then buying low value, so-called 'proven' has beens each season is scary. It comes with no guarantee if we invest in youth but it breaks this deadly cycle.

I see Branthwaite is the new Baresi now after a good season in Holland

I’d love for him to start the season next to Tarkowski and be as good as some are saying but I fear there are some overreactions to his quality here

I honestly think after a full season being a PL starter next to tarkowski we'll sell him for £50m. Look at what white went for and he had a fairly average season when he was sold.

PSV’s record signing isn’t even £15 million. Doubt they were offering that for Branthwaite.

Theres plenty of quotes saying they did tbh. Also some saying otherwise.

Who knows, pure conjecture either way

PSV Eindhoven could be priced out of a permanent deal for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite - with the Blues reportedly rejecting a £15m bid for the defender in the January transfer window.

PSV Eindhoven have made a fresh offer for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

Branthwaite is currently on loan at the Dutch club, and they want to make the deal a permanent one.

However, their bid, which is understood to be worth around £15m, is likely to be turned down.

I think most clubs see a guy who they can get reasonably cheaply from us and possibly develop into a profit.
He's got the raw ingredients hasn't he.

Well we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. You can see precisely what Dyche is about from his half a season. Just as we could with Allardyce - and it's not good.

We are run like a club from the 80s and we've appointed a manager who practically works that way, with a few token concessions to the modern game, so it's on brand for our failing club.

Dyche could win the FA Cup for us and you'd still moan. You have never really given him a chance and will probably never change your opinion.

PSV can do one if they think they can get Branthwaite for £15 mil, we would be lucky to a 1st division replacement for that.

However I can't see Dyche playing him, it will be Tarks and his love child Keane starting for us until Dyche is sacked early Nov

And with that as a likely scenario, why wouldn't Branthwaite force us to sell?

The second half of the season with Carlo was some of the worst football I've ever seen. Dyche wasn't much better. But it was pragmatic. It's not like he had any chance to bring anyone in. Do we need a more forward thinking.... Everything? Yes. But Dyche earned this season.

Let’s hope that a season with PSV has been exactly what Branthwaite needed and he’s ready to be thrown In alongside Tarkowski next season as first choice CB pairing.

I feel if that does happen, he needs to be given a chance and the supporters don’t start on him and ruin his confidence if he has a couple of bad games. But fans being as fickle as they are these days I honestly can’t see that happening.

Of course he did. I’m actually slightly more optimistic that a full pre season and allowing Dyche to sort the team out will have us mid table and not going into the final month panicking again.
