PSV can do one if they think they can get Branthwaite for £15 mil, we would be lucky to a 1st division replacement for that.

However I can't see Dyche playing him, it will be Tarks and his love child Keane starting for us until Dyche is sacked early Nov

….Dyche didn’t start Keane at CB in those last few games. I don’t get the impression Dyche thinks he’s his ‘love child’.

The second half of the season with Carlo was some of the worst football I've ever seen. Dyche wasn't much better. But it was pragmatic. It's not like he had any chance to bring anyone in. Do we need a more forward thinking.... Everything? Yes. But Dyche earned this season.
By keeping us up then Dyche has earned the right to show us he can change, grow into a modern football manager. You can understand the skepticism of some fans

Dyche could win the FA Cup for us and you'd still moan. You have never really given him a chance and will probably never change your opinion.
Not at all. Yes, I really don't like him but I'm happy to change my opinions if the person proves me wrong. I want to see signs that he is capable of producing a side that can play some good stuff (doesn't have to be all the time, but more than twice in half a season) and bring through some young talent and not stack the club with more rubbish journeymen.

This would then allow us to build as, he could steady us and them leave behind a side that could be used by the next manager in a way that progresses us again. Alternatively, he could really excel and produce a good swashbuckling side filled with talent which gets better year on year and deserves to keep his job.

What I don't want us to do is have years of dire, negative football, not giving youth a chance, and signing dross to keep our heads above water. That will put us ANOTHER half decade behind the teams we have fallen behind.

Problem is: managers seldom change their MOs. Look at Martinez at the other side of the spectrum. The fella could have put some emphasis on set-pieces, brought and brought in a defensive coach and left recruitment to others and would have done really well. He couldn't/wouldn't and look what happened.

Nope. Don't like him at all. Our fans vastly overstate his abilities.

The attacking scenarios you talk of were still without discernable patterns of play - it's just getting the ball into the box. The fact that he was preceeded by Lampard and Benitez should not excuse the fact he is a poor manager.

He came in and got our players fit and sorted the mentality out, fair play, but I think most people could do that if that was their sole focus. He didn't sort our defence and organisation out, is one of the most negative managers I have ever seen for substitutions and lives upto the stereotype of him by preferring to play useless senior pros over younger players who might still improve.

We only played well twice under him - Arsenal and Brighton.

The mad thing is that the three sides that went down were so bad that if Dyche hadn't have been so infuriating (making no subs when needed, continuing to play Michael Keane, refusing to use Mina, consistently using Maupay, preferring out of position CBs over Patterson until forced to use him etc.) we could have been safe weeks before the end of the season.

The thought of him having a say on our recruitment alongside Calamity Kev and Chairman Bill absolutely terrifies me. Our only model to get out of this cycle is to invest in and play talented young players and move them on. Not get journeymen footballers and we know which Dyche will prefer.
Hilarious some people are never happy. We would have went down under Frank. Dyche came in and worked with the squad he had. Dom was out injured all the time, not Sean’s fault. Mina is another one. We all loved Mina but what’s the point in playing someone who always comes off injured and then is out for months. I get Keane isn’t the best but I think he played well under Dyche and he scored a belter against Spurs and set up a goal against Wolves.

As for Patterson. From what I’ve seen of him so far I think he could be good but so far he hasn’t impressed me at all. He keeps getting caught out of position and giving the ball away. So I don’t know what you’re expectation is there.

Dyche is perfect for us. We want to create a team that is hard to beat, full of horrible players like Tarky, Pickford, Onana, and then go from there. Dyche’s job was to keep us in the league last season, job done.

Do you think a prem team would trust a 20yr old kid with limited prem experience and ply him straight away.

The Dutch league is the championship with a couple of very good teams. And the likes of Psv and Ajax would be mid table at best in the prem.

If PSV and Ajax (not to mention champions Feyenoord???) were mid table level then clrearly theyre better than us. Branthwaite should walk into our team.

They’re cup games. Virginia had a great game v city in the cup, should we have made him first choice and dropped Pickford.

I like Branthwaite and think he will be a great player. But I think you’re going over the top on how good the Dutch league. Is how many players bought from that league over the last 10 yrs been successful in the prem?

Well, im not as you just stated their 2nd/3rd placed sides would be mid table. So theyre better than us.

Levi Colwill ?

Played on loan last year in the championship and spent last year with high flying Brighton ?

But loads of posters here said he was poor in the league below lol

Anyway. On a transfer note, we've been linked with Wharton again this morning.

Could be a good signing. Take it with a pinch of salt though as it says we are looking at offering them Maupay or Simms in exchange and we seldom see deals like that.

Hopefully they got Scott and Adam mixed up today and the younger brother rumour is true....and its Maupay off there.

It’s the Dutch League Zat, we would even win it

We'd be lucky to finish 4th.

Well we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. You can see precisely what Dyche is about from his half a season. Just as we could with Allardyce - and it's not good.

We are run like a club from the 80s and we've appointed a manager who practically works that way, with a few token concessions to the modern game, so it's on brand for our failing club.

Personally I think managers like dyche should be no where near a club like Everton. At best he's a manager that will do nothing but tread water.

I look at villa who finished a few points ahead of us the season before. All the talk was about who'll get sacked first Gerrard or lampard. Villa weren't happy with Gerrard had a talk to top level managers, got a bite sacked Gerrard and got emery in and he had the whole world Cup to work with the squad.

We on the other hand clung to lampard like a drawing man with a broken bit of wood and only got rid of him when we were in the crap and nobody worth their salt would of touched us. Of all the managers in the world the idea that dyche is the best we can get is ludicrous.

What did dyche do? He implemented a defensive system, thats about it. It was better then lampard not having a system but that doesn't prove hes actually good. We conceded 28 goal in 18 games in a defensive system.

I think he'll be gone by January with less then 20 pts on the table.

And on that point, all this has ballooned from me making a comment (fairly) about me wondering how certain players we are linked with would fit with Dyche's style.

I'm not saying sack him. Lord, knows we need some stability somewhere in the club at the moment. What I am highlighting is why I don't like him, don't trust him and why I feel our fans have significantly overstated his worth and ability.

I am happy to be proven wrong, but we need to be careful that we don't do more long term damage with what he wants to do as manager.

Yep. But earning this season should not give him carte blanche with signings etc that will cause more problems later on.

I suggest you step out of the 80’s and move into the real world.

As for Dyche, he will hopefully prove you very wrong.

Edit: he had to play the players he inherited. So your 28 goal stat is down to the fact that he inherited a bad team, had numerous injuries to both the RB and LB positions and had to reshuffle a lot too. You just come across as though you want him to fail so you can say “I told you so”.

He is perfect for us as we are a backward thinking club and he is a backward thinking manager.

No argument from me there. Dyche screams Everton. Was qlways going to happen. It is this kind of thing why we are a laughing stock with the media, other fans etc.

Dyche hasn't earned anything and this idea that he's done well because he scrapped 21pts out of a potential of 54 is the same mentally that has ud battling relegation for the last two years.

We 100% should of been talking to Potter as soon as the season was over imo.

I’m sorry but that’s absolute nonsense.

Another one who wants him to fail so he can gloat that he was right.
