It's quite impossible to forget how bad we were and have been for years. Doesn't make Dyche a good manager.

I also have said I wouldn't advocate sacking him, which is giving him a chance. I have also said that he has so far done all the the kinds of things I was worried about when we appointed him, so on the evidence thus far, have nothing to change my opinion.

He has a very basic approach to the game. His 'Coaches Voice' was a hilarious example of this - talking in a very technical manner about the kind of tactics we see all the time in Sunday league. He needs to dramatically improve all of his flaws. If he does, great, if he doesn't them the worry is that we will be in another five year cycle of trying to shift players bought for a system no-one else wants to play.

So far there is nothing to suggest that he is capable of doing anything beyond his Burnley days. Therefore, he lacks potential, which is something you need to see if taking a punt on someone (in any walk of life) to go to the next level if they haven't actually demonstrated the requisite achievements/abilities.

That is why I am worried. That is a perfectly legitimate worry to have and yet you are jumping down the throats of people who have it. The issues raised by me and the others who are involved here are the wider points surrounding endemic low standards amongst the club and fan base. This goes far beyond Dyche himself, but he is also a clear example of it.
“Jumping down people’s throats” lol

That’s hilarious! I’m debating with you on a public forum. I’m merely stating an alternative opinion to you.

Are you one of those who when someone is stating an alter view to yours, suggests that they are “furious” or “bashing the keyboard in anger”….that’s not me.

Don’t go OTT about somebody having a different opinion to yours.

Well jumping down people's throats is referring to the tone you've taken with me. I don't imagine you're sitting there angrily, but you seem to be ultra-defensive of Dyche and don't like my dislike of him, so in the context of a forum like this, that is a perfectly reasonable point to make.

I've also inexplicably been accused of wanting the club I support to fail, because I don't like said manager when all of my posts have been about my frustration at the endemic low standards at the club, which is along the same lines as calling me a Kopite etc. So again, it is jumping down the throat, to use a turn of phrase. So you went OTT there. I said a few posts back we won't agree on it, so let it go.

You definitely are going weirdly out of your way to defend a manager who has done nothing to command such devotion.

And I have my opinions on Dyche and will stick to them until he does something to change them.

Jack Harrison would be a huge mistake if we signed him. We would certainly be in the bottom because offensively we would still be toothless. That guy cannot beat a man 1 on 1 and his speed and ball handling skills are championship quality.

Not really they've spent €30m and sold €12m since he's came in. Think if dyche had of came in when emery did we would of spent around that much.

Obviously villa can spend more tyen us but they havent
But the fact that a manager within reason can get the players he wants to play the system he likes is a big pull. A pull we don't have.

So getting us European football as he did with Burnley isn't the "next level"?

More goals/assists over 2 seasons than Gray, more goals and one fewer assist than Iwobi’s managed in 4 seasons

It’s not exactly early now is it when the window has been open for nearly three weeks to register players and we could have been agreed deals in principle before that
I mean, if you dont understand the financial implications of July 1st to this club regardless of the window being open Im not sure I can help you there.

How many loan deals have been done in the league so far?

No. To take a club to the next level, there has to be some consolidation of that success or to move on again. One flash in the pan is just a freak occurrence.

For example, Moyes took us to the next level from relegation fodder to in and around the European places on a regular basis. However, he could not take us beyond that, to the next level again - regular CL qualification and trophies.

Alan Pardew got Newcastle into Europe one season. There are lots of examples of bad managers achieving a flash in the pan moment.
