I definitely understand the frustration here, the club is a joke these days. However, I think we should recognise that in order for a player to have ‘turned Everton down’, we would need to have at least submitted a bid that was accepted by the selling club, and then we would more than likely have had to have offered terms that the player then turned down.

I accept that we are a joke outfit these days, but I still don’t accept that “Nobody wants to come to us”, or the ridiculous reports that because a player ends up signing for Southampton or Forest it means that they must have turned Everton down in the process. In reality, we haven’t even made them an offer.

There are still plenty of players that would like to play for Everton even in its current joke state, but Everton will actually have to make an offer, which they aren’t doing right now, and most probably won’t do until there have been player sales.

it is on the Echo

Cheers, I stopped bothering with the echo ages ago. So back generally Thursday and off to the training camp next week. Unlikely to have any new players ready to go at the training camp which means unlikely to have them properly ready for the start of the season. Cosmic

Well said. Would be good time to show what our scouting team can produce. But again this too might be another pipe dream

You're right. We're still at the Nothing Happening phase of the window. Being Turned Down comes next followed by the Jesus! Him? phase

Clubs approach players first before they bother submitting a bid these days tbh.

I imagine this is correct, but a player can’t move anywhere until a bid has been made and accepted. Without an accepted bid, there is no option for the player to move to Everton.

Just a bit fed up with this ridiculous reasoning whereby if a player joins Forest or Southampton it must mean that they have rejected an offer from Everton in the process. As if we are always ready and willing to purchase whatever crap player that Forest are after.

I can see players perhaps choosing West Ham over Everton right now, but it was only this time last year that Onana chose Everton over West Ham, a story that was documented by actual bids from both clubs and quotes from Onana.
