Summer transfer window 2023

Its 5 weeks until the season starts man !

Peeps need to acknowledge we can't just drop our testicles on a chairmans desk and pay whatever is asked.

We have to negotiate to get deals on our specific terms / instalments which will take time.
Surely we should have known where we wanted to strengthen once we knew we were safe and open dialogues with agents and clubs then?

I acknowledge that we would have been constrained to only sign players after 1 July for FFP reasons but the silence on signings is deafening.

it looks like good times Bill is up to his usual last minute.com trolley dash.

Thankfully there are only 3 league games rather than 5 in August this season. But they are all winnable games and we need a better start.

Last season was some of the worst incompetence you'll ever see. For a top flight club to enter a season without an available forward is totally unacceptable.

The fixtures for me is why we have to strengthen well before the first game I think mate. Time to gel get used to the country whatever, we have quite a decent start to the season, we need to make the most of it and try our best to get a good start and points on the board.

I am still fuming from last season, it was downright negligent.

It only seems to take time when we’re involved, most clubs get their [Poor language removed] together before the window opens.

Most other clubs dont have our financial situation mate !

Fans need to stop looking at what other clubs are doing as whilst I do think there is money to spend I imagine with the number of deals we need to do (CF, RW, CB, LB) if we want quality we're going to have to spend a few quid which will mean negotiating the structure of payments etc. which will take time as other clubs wont just sell on our terms.

It seems a lot of talk about Harrison which is an interesting one. Reminds me of McNeily in that he's not top 7 quality but probably solid/hard working enough to have us in the conversation for a top 10 finish which I suppose is the height of our ambitions until the stadium is complete.

Harrison is an interesting one, I am struggling to see where he fits at the moment though. I haven't seen enough of him to fully understand though, he seems like an out and out left winger. Does he push McNeil out, or can he play off the right?

Hes a solid enough signing and a hard worker, feels very much like a Dyche type signing.

Exactly this.

Also people have to understand where we are in the food chain, we wont be eating deals wise until other clubs have finished their dinners. Thats the reality of our finances and our current profile.

We will have loads of deals in the chamber but players wont be in a rush to us and will wait to see if there are other options as we aren't that desirable. From their point of view they could be more then likely be buying into a relegation battle or a possible relegation.

Have the hold the space - like every year - simples!

I want to believe its started mate, I really do, I just think at transfers we are massively incompetent. Always have been, never been able to work on two threads at once unless its handed on a plate.

We are probably still trying to sound out clubs for the likes of Gomes etc.

Well, yes exactly. Unfortunately when you’re in the position of needing to sell before you buy you do kind of have to work at the pace of the clubs you’re selling to. Not a nice position to be in and definitely hampering us.

But there’s no way we haven’t even started. The players were being linked with are consistent with those from previous windows and are also being sought after by other clubs. I’m confident we’ve done the research but now we’re trying to find the resources to make things happen, and we’re beholden to others for that.

although i am as impatient as the lot of you, dont forget the first 13-14 players of last season are still at the club although the options at centre back have become weaker. so as long as we dont pick up many injuries in pre season i am not so worried for like the 1st game.

What i do worry about big time is the attack: strikers seem to be the most difficult to get certainly later in the window.
Also i dont want to see Mauapay entering the pitch at Goodison Park anymore waering our shirt. Also i dont want to see Gray being shoved off the ball by any centre half anymore. And if you are talking injuries you talk DCL as highest risk.

So get a move on Kev: Call Rodrigo, call Piroe, call Sheffield Utd anyone please !!

Am not so much impatient, as I have lived long enough to understand how we do transfers.

I am just airing my frustration that after another absolutely awful season, we seem to be pinning our hopes again on DCL being fit. Good strikers go early, not late... and its not a huge market for a decent striker at the moment.

If we get to the first game of the season with DCL/Maupay/Young Cannon as our only options I will be extremely concerned.
