Summer transfer window 2023

I seriously hope the Ndiaye link is real. He is a phenomenal player with great potential and he can solve our CF problem as i initially thought he was more of a 10 but on transfermarkt it shows hes played the plurality of games as a CF. Hopefully, we can get Ndiaye as our new CF, Gnonto (will be tough given competition from Villa) and an out and out RW ie Bakayoko.

At least gives us an option of playing him as a 10, don’t want to see doucoure there every week. He’s technically poor and gives the ball away a lot. Need a bit more from that position especially in home games

I mean we will sign at least half a player, probably a goalie, but its looking pretty poor isn't it.

We all know we are hamstrung, but we aren't even giving Dyche a chance, smaller squad selling players for the future to try and achieve something for now. Normally I haven't got a problem with this, if the academy isn't producing first team players they need to produce a profit - we have for too long kept players in the reserves for way longer then we should have. My issue is we have half a DCL, Maupay who isn't a 10th of DCL and well thats it right? Simms even though he isn't prom standard shown in glimpses what he can do.

If we dont sign a few strikers and some players with a shred of creativity we are done this season. Not convinced we survive again without that. We are truly a basket case of a club.

Whatever happened to us being after Beto? I assume we are priced out of a move for him.

Assuming the club doesn't want to sell assets like Onana and we're relying on selling youth (+ possibly Gray), I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up only targeting Rodrigo and Harrison plus some loans.

As usual, leaving it until late on in the transfer window. That leaves us with a choice of rubbish that no one else has wanted, or those desperate to find a club. Hardly the way to build a strong squad.
It's the hope that kills us.

Its 5 weeks until the season starts man !

Peeps need to acknowledge we can't just drop our testicles on a chairmans desk and pay whatever is asked.

We have to negotiate to get deals on our specific terms / instalments which will take time.

It only seems to take time when we’re involved, most clubs get their [Poor language removed] together before the window opens.

The stats make a case for him not going at all

Could say that but without development the lad would go the way of many of our other academy players especially with dyche now in charge. As we seen with him playing Maupay over simms.

Unfortunately it seems many of our youth prospects think the same.

I think this is the right time to sell simms with our current situation but £6m is way too low for me.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, and we did have the worry about what league we would be playing in, the work for this starts in January and even Dyche said when he came the work for the summer had already started.

This isn't unheard of and you always see multiple clubs getting their deals in place and order ready for preseason.

We are awful at transfers, this isn't down to us negotiating, we probably haven't even started considering targets - there's a reason our deals are always backloaded mate, its nothing down to negotiation.

We need to stop being last to the table and left with the scraps.

I am judging the summer business a few days before game 1. We need to have made significant progress to strengthen before we play Fulham, not just by 31 August.

This is absolutely true mate, we cannot go 5 games into the season without strengthening like we did last season.

Players need to be in before game 1, not the last day of the transfer window.

The club is awful at this.

I think work has obviously started and we will sign people - but we’re on a very tight budget and so one assumes we’re working out who costs what, what market there is for our own “assets”, and what combination of players we can actually bring in with what little we have.

It’s historically true that our summer cash flow generally means we sign players later in the window, so I’m not at all shocked that 5 weeks from the start of the season we’re in this position. I’ll be much more concerned if we’re still here going into the first game - although I also won’t be massively surprised. It’s just what we do, for whatever reason

Thankfully there are only 3 league games rather than 5 in August this season. But they are all winnable games and we need a better start.

Last season was some of the worst incompetence you'll ever see. For a top flight club to enter a season without an available forward is totally unacceptable.

I want to believe its started mate, I really do, I just think at transfers we are massively incompetent. Always have been, never been able to work on two threads at once unless its handed on a plate.

We are probably still trying to sound out clubs for the likes of Gomes etc.
