Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

£230k a week is in the region of what we are currently paying for the combination of DCL and Doucoure.

I know, but I think that we shouldnt be putting all our eggs in one basket like that. This is the road we have gone down before, over paying for players, getting them on high wages and then we cant move them on. We should be looking at young players on less money than Doucoure, not more.

Can get 3-4 players for that price that improve us. 60k each.

Completely agree. The time for paying truckloads of cash to a single player is when you’re fighting to recruit an absolute elite 26/27 yr old world superstar to reinforce your quadruple chasing campaign, or hold on to the one you’ve got - not when you’re on your arse and looking at other people’s cast offs.

We should have more money to spend this summer but we can’t be lobbing stupid sums at players who are only one step up from what we’ve got now.

As far as I see, we have 12 under contract for next season, and I think we retain Gana and Alcaraz, giving us 14. Then we get a backup keeper, so 15.

Id have to imagine then we target 2 full backs, 1 CB, 3 attackers, and 1 midfielder. Probably a loan, probably a free signing, which means we would need to only pay fees for 5 outfield players to get to a squad of 22. We will have more than enough funds and ability to do that.
Whilst i agree we need 7 players, it has been said that Moyes is only looking for 3 quality 1st teamers. Bit risky if we have injuries in an already small squad.

Makes me feel why we should offload DCL.

Outs:

Coleman, Young, Keane, Harrison, Lindstrom, Mangala, Doucoure, Calvert Lewin, Broja

Ins:

LB, CB, CM, extend Gana, Alcaraz, RW, ST, ST/RW hybrid

That’s 6 first team players. Not unachievable. Harrison would come back as well. RB we’d have OBrien, Patterson, Dixon so could afford not to spend there this summer and get a replacement left back.

Garner, Iroegbunam, Gueye, Harrison, new CM is decent competition for midfield

Then McNeil Ndiaye Alacaraz And two new RWs for the attacking positions behind the striker

New ST, Beto, Chermiti the lone striker options.

I mean, I would say that too if I were Moyes. No sense telling your squad, which is playing well, that you need to replace the lot of them rather than "just improve a few spots".

I could see them pretending its just RB, LB, and RW, but I suspect the other 3-4 players they bring in will at least be expected to compete with the current starters.

We need 2 new full backs and have done for 3 years now.

If we don't do it this Summer I'm gonna scream.

Stats tell you our defence isn’t the issue though. If Moyes wants to play JOB at RB and keep Patterson as number 2 and he has enough backup for Branthwaite and Tarkowski in the middle then I’d much rather any funds go towards attacking players than a third right back.

If Moyes wants to move OBrien back into the Cb position though then that would change and we’d need an extra player at right back.

My eyes tell me we need 2 new Full Backs.
