Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Its a bit different breaking that structure on a single player, sets a precedent for future negotiations

The wider market and the contract situation of a player are also very influential factors, though.

Strikers, especially very good ones that are capable of succeeding in the Premier League will typically be paid considerably more. DCL is on considerably more than Garner and Gueye despite him seldom being fit and always being crap. That might not be fair, but it’s just the way the market is.

I don't necessarily disagree with the points about putting all your eggs in one basket, or with considerations about wage policy and squad harmony. But that outlook needs to be balanced with the ‘pay cheap, pay twice’ reality that we seem trapped in to some degree.

Vlahovic is top drawer and worth his 200k a week imo, but he will probably get that wage elsewhere, at the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle or United.

My eyes tell me we need 2 new Full Backs.

If funds stretch that far great. But if the new recruitment team have two RBs sat on the bench behind OBrien but we’ve got no pace up top and Beto is still starting then there won’t be much appreciation from the fans. Hopefully there’s enough money to go round and we can plug every hole in the squad but my eyes tell me we need to improve the attack first before further bolstering the defence, and whilst I know Everton fans have a unique obsession with their attacking play coming solely from the left back position, it’s generally just easier to buy better forward players to take care of your attacking.

But improving our full backs, both sides, also improves our attacking play.

Ive no issue with JOB, hes come in and doing a decent job for the team, so is Myko, but I expect more from my full backs in 2025.

Full backs arent the only position we lack quality in, I could go through the whole team and no position would escape.

We have a lot of decent players, some excellent, but we can improve on them all.

Of course we will not do it in 1 Transfer window.

But for now, I just wanna see an attacking full back or 2 brought in.

How long has our RB been an issue now? Feels like forever since we had Seamus there for 10+ years, I suppose Baines and Coleman have ruined it for mere mortals.

Outs:

Coleman, Young, Keane, Harrison, Lindstrom, Mangala, Doucoure, Calvert Lewin, Broja

Ins:

LB, CB, CM, extend Gana, Alcaraz, RW, ST, ST/RW hybrid

That’s 6 first team players. Not unachievable. Harrison would come back as well. RB we’d have OBrien, Patterson, Dixon so could afford not to spend there this summer and get a replacement left back.

Garner, Iroegbunam, Gueye, Harrison, new CM is decent competition for midfield

Then McNeil Ndiaye Alacaraz And two new RWs for the attacking positions behind the striker

New ST, Beto, Chermiti the lone striker options.
We need a. RB

In PL history how many times have we bought a PL rivals best player, regardless of where they are in the table ?

Sigurdsson perhaps - he cost a pretty penny. Beattie ? Andy Johnson ? Yakubu ? Pickford ? Gana ?

Usually it is after they are relegated anyway, oir past their sell-by date.

Lukaku stands out as our best PL->PL transfer - even then, he wasn't first team at Chelsea.

I’d argue that kanchelskis was our best signing … when saying that I’m basing it on how good they were when they signed.

He was absolutely top class and I could not believe when he arrived .

It’s the only time Everton have signed my favourite player in the world.

Lukaku was a great signing but wasn’t considered a top striker at the time … heaps of potential but not top their yet.

Kanchelskis was one of if not the best winger in the league and coming from the best team in the country/europe

60k is still a good wage for PL and I wager squad could be improved more by signing four of those than one 240k player.

60k is not getting you a decent prem player these days …

Young, Coleman, Harrison Keane , doucs, DCL would all be on more than that and doucs is more than double

Think Simon Jordan said a while ago on talk sport that the average wage of a prem player these days is 80k

I reckon even Maupay would be on more than 60k per week.

Only way your getting a decent player for that is if you take a point on a younger player or player from abroad and they turn out good… like Jarrod or obrein

Yep. Fullback is our weakest position on both sides. Jesper has done decently as a stop gap right wing back but we need someone that could slot into a true four back system on both sides. Myko is okay but he can easily be improved upon. We will likely be in the market for either a striker or someone that can fill in at striker effectively.

The flanks in general, it's genuine League Two standard if we consider O'Brien will ultimately end up at centre back - maybe even next season alongside Tarkowski - and Ndiaye is clearly much more effective in the middle.

Mykolenko and McNeil on the left, Young/Coleman/Patterson & Harrison/Lindstrom on the right - that's disgusting.

When did we play wing backs this season ?

Not sure about that, my argument would be that if we would attract Lukaku, who is on £240k a week, he would improve us more than 4 Mykolenko's

The problem would be is being able to pull in a player who's wages would be £240k, we would probably pay over the odds on a lesser player to bring them here

linked to Dusan Vlahovic, striker from Juventus for £25m, a few seasons ago this lad was tipped for greatness and Juve paid Fiorentina £70m for him. bit of a surprise that Juve want to sell, he has scored 14 in 34 this season. If he really is available for that kind of money I would think plenty of clubs would be in for him.

Can't say I have seen him play much but he look very good against City in the Champs league.
