As this thread is turning into something resembling an oppressive communist state, maybe we could go the full hog and each week we will be given a 'credible transfer rumour' that we are allowed to discuss.

Only the agreed rumour is to be discussed. No other rumours, no matter how credible must be discussed.

I can see this working, I'll do some more finessing of the finer details such as banning orders and solitary confinement procedures for those who insult the rules.

I'll return soon.

Seen that Mccarthy to Tottenham story loads, apparently he was happy to leave last summer because of his contract as well. So offer him a new contract Bill and have done with it, because we're all tired of his agent leaking stories to the rags

Jesus, talk about first world problems... Its one sodding thread, it shouldn't be that hard to resist the urge.

Can the mods not just delete the irrelevant stuff? If the post aren't staying the speculative conversation will move to the other thread.

Point is, it's clearly not working trying to work a thread like this. It should work, but it doesn't.

We end up with more pages of thread violation warnings than rumours, credible or not. Leading to a thoroughly unenjoyable read for all parties.

With a handful of mods, and 30000 potential posters, not sure that is a realistic option mate!

Some context, if you like. The mod team all work full time. In fact, most own/run their own businesses as it has turned out. The one I know who doesnt run/own, is in a stressful, full time, vital job. Like keeping folk alive and stuff. Oh, he also has a young, (growing) family.

Our "job", on here, is not to push an agenda or anything, it is to make GOT a decent place for Blues to natter about all sorts of stuff. Hence the threads, hence the different bits and pieces. (Ale House etc).

The POSTERS make GOT. Not us. All we ask is that posters keep reasonably on topic in the said threads, and tbf, 99% do. The ones that dont are a nuisance to the forum, and, believe me, an annoyance to fellow posters. They tell us that.. We appreciate that at times a natural conversation will develop around a post, and that is no problem at all.

This thread was a trial, after feedback from a lot after previous seasons threads. It hasnt been plain sailing, true, but just spend 5 minutes in the Speculation thread, then imagine the two being merged. I, for one, think the result would be an absolute pain for Blues popping on for an update, and having to wade through a morass of stuff before they might alight on a post that is of interest/half accurate.

If that makes sense.

Oh overall, without a doubt. I just meant this specific thread. Obviously I don't know how complicated the procedure is, but couldn't take any longer to do then the warnings take currently surely?

The procedure is a piece of cake. But if we adopted it, several points.

1. Accusations of censorship.
2. We would have to delete every off topic post. Unrealistic. See above.

The main problem is the people who waffle and talk about or post jarg sources. This creates pages of unneeded posts, then it creates posts from people who are moaning about the unneeded posts, then it creates posts from people who are moaning about the moaners.

I suggested (and @SpurtingLesbian ) that this thread could be locked until a real credible link comes out, the mods post it and lock the thread again and all the discussion and other things could go in the other thread.

not a bad idea. whoever posts the "credible rumour" in the other tags a mod to see if they wanna open this thread up to put the post in?

if you log in and see some yapping going on here you know something a bit less guffish might be happening.
