Its a strange one Rodwell,I know he suffered a lot from niggling injuries from an early age, even changed his car, bed, furniture and took up yoga to try and improve his well being, its best hes out of Sunderland as I think he reached the point of no return with regards to playing again

i think he`s past the point of no return with playing footy anywhere tbh.

Possibly a career change would do him good, maybe staying in footy, just not playing.

You really can`t see him being arsed dropping down a league or two and playing on a muddy pitch, on a freezing Tuesday night, in front of a couple of thousand fans, at somewhere like Oldham can you ???

I doubt it maybe abroad,USA,though he just seems to have given up on any attempt to play

He was my go-to-buy in Football Manager 2013! Hartlepool I play as, took them to the Champions League Final by 2020! I'm tempted to put it on my CV it was such an achievement.

...I'll leave out the next season when they sacked me after I took them down mind.

Speaking of which, Hartlepool could go bust soon. Matter of time, they'll enter liquidation. So, I'll have to find a new club. Shame, good little club they are, hope they find a buyer and save themselves.

Back to Rodwel though, you're right, he may go abroad for one last little 'pay-day' but I think he'll retire.

Sunderland job could be up for grabs soon get the CV sent in ;)
As for Rodwell I honestly dont know, retirement could be the best thing for him,as I said he just seems to have given up,didnt he tell Grayson he wasnt prepared to play CM?

Yeah that's the rumour mate, but with Sunderland, you never know what the truth is. There was mad rumours that Di Canio had banned tomato ketchup from the players diets, rumours that Poyet had a physical fight with Cattermole etc. You never know what the truth is.

The way the club has been run for years has been nothing short of a disgrace.

Find that at most clubs,a rumour about such and such a player, usually from a cab driver or some one with an insider but they cant reveal who it is,agree the club has been a shambles but that has applied to the NE in general, for a hotbed of football it doesnt seem to do much

It might well be up there on their list of mistakes. It's a pretty long list, and it must be one high on the agenda currently, but give it a couple of years, and it's correct historical placing in the list of Black Cat Blunders will reveal itself. I bet it's not even in the top 10. It'll be a mere bit of garnish of folly on this whole disastrous episode for them - like the fish tank at Leeds United.

I originally thought that too mate. But, I've had a think and now I'm not so sure, I think it could be true, I think he could very well he the worst mistake ever (Recruitment wise anyway) The 'Worst mistake' ever is probably giving/allowing Ellis Short control of our club, allowing him to rack up monumental debt, whilst making bad error after bad error, creating total chaos which would ultimately cripple us both on and off the pitch.

Rodwell certainly isn't anywhere near the worst midfielder we've had. That dishonorable list could include Jeff Whitley, Kevin Kilbane, John Oster. Rodwell is comfortably head and shoulders above them (Doesn't take much mind). But in terms of pound-for-pound value for money, considering he cost 10m, I think he's the worst piece of business Sunderland have done. If he had just cost a cool 2m, you could just put it down to a error of judgment or a failed risk, but when you pay 10m for a player, (bear in mind our limited resources) it's quite a spectator cock-up.

Rodwell is only a tiny, tiny piece of a bigger puzzle, which has fundamentally collapsed. Successive management failures, woeful recruitment and just general incompetence from the directors/board/owner + others is why we're now facing the prospect of going to league 1. We can't really blame Rodwell for that, although it is temping.

lol

Killer Kilbane was ok !!

Killer Kilbane was ok !!

Fair enough, maybe I'm being harsh on Kilbane. He did go on to have a decent spell with Everton, plus he played over 100+ times for Ireland. So, yes I'll take him back. He was very unpopular here, especially in our 19 point relegation season, plus he refused to sign my cousins autograph point-blank, so maybe I'm holding that against him (still). lol Certainly wasn't great for us, but not our worst.

Andy Welsh.
John Oster.
Christian Basilla.
Jeff Whitley.
Tommy Miller.

That's properly more appropriate.
