Bet Rodders bought something boss today with his £10k daily salary.

A proper smart coat I reckon.

I hope he flew out to party with Davies and Holgate and DCL and Pia Mia and bought all the drinks all night

Results did go for them elsewhere tonight. If Hull win their game in hand it's big trouble.

5 wins in 33. 6 in 38 last year.

Imagine watching 11 wins in 71 games. At least one poor soul has watched everyone of those games, and that poor soul is Jack Rodwell.

That one is the end of the road I think.

Relegation confirmed.

Yep, you're right.

Feel a bit daft insisting we'd be fine now. I genuinely thought we'd just scrape enough wins together. Tonight was a must-win, even a draw wasn't good enough.

'Boro will destroy us on Saturday to rub the salt in the wounds.

I'm getting drunk now, sick as a parrot. Wish I didn't like Football.

I might start supporting Shrewsbury :cool:lol

Evening my mate, at least you weren't posting laughing emojis at half time - which was all I have been saying, never understand it.

Very grim that. BUT results elsewhere were a saving grace. Birmingham right back in it now.

Come and support Everton.

Come and support Everton.

Good idea.

They'd probably go down knowing my luck mate! Rooney would get a career ending injury and Pickford would turn into a David James esque comedy keeper.

This is easily the worst Sunderland team I've seen. We've actually managed something quite miraculous. Coleman, has managed to do a worse job than Simon Grayson. I honestly think a heavy defeat to Boro on Saturday and Coleman will walk, meaning this shambolic managerial merry-go-round continues. Some fans are calling for Peter Reid to come and save us...Dear god! It doesn't matter who our manager is, it's too late now anyway.

I'd like to see Coleman given a chance to start the rebuilding job in league 1. But, he might not fancy it.

This is just a smoke screen anyway, we all know the main issue - Ellis Short. Until this situation is rectfied, our fall will continue.

I do feel for Sunderland fans.

How have McGeady, Oveido and Gibson done ?

Average, terrible and terrible mate - in that order.

Sorry, you asked @Sunderland afc not me but thought I'd answer if you don't mind.

He may think different.

McGeady is far, far too inconsistent for me. I know wingers are notorious for being inconsistent but McGeady literally goes weeks without doing anything, followed by a couple of good assists, followed by another Month of him playing poor. He is a one-trick pony, a luxury we can't afford in a relegation scrap. Decent Championship player on his day, just too inconsistent. What do you think @Sunderland afc

I've said it before but I've not seen a club with systemic problems like Sunderland since Portsmouth. 11 wins in 70 games - despite dropping a league - is unimaginable. We won 14 home games from 19 last season I think.

I still can't get over one of your fans posting on here at half-time with laughing emojis. It's that mentality that must be broken for recovery. Yes, Short must go (though who will clear the debt at this stage) and the CEO and 90% of the playing staff, but there needs to be anger not - and you aren't included here - head patting let's laugh at ourselves and hope we are still popular cowardice.

Martinez got us four home wins one season and people were on the pitch trying to get at him or confronting him at youth matches. Or out senior players were pleading at him to change things. 11 wins in 70+ and where is the tangible rage? I don't see it.

Thanks for the update always interested to know how our ex players are doing.

Moyes really did take the lazy option with those signings. Does Rodwell not even make the team anymore surely he is worth a go?

They are all rubbish. Hate the lot of them. At the start of the season I kept thinking that they were just underperforming and we would get it right sooner rather than later, but now I just think they really are that bad.

Around the turn of the year I thought we were done and each week I see nothing to show me otherwise. Saturday was one of the worst of the season for me and that takes some doing.

Massive changes are needed and unlike back in 87 I think it's going to be a long road back. I guess I was only 15 then and didn' t really understand but I do now and cant believe that we are going through it again.

Wish it didn't hurt as much but guess that what 40 years of sunderland does to you. But i try to block it out and then we play a game and it's like, oh here we go again.

Bairn is 11 and he is sick to death of football, but he is still renewing as what else can you do.

No mate, doesn't even get a look in now. Yet, we're paying him a lot of money for literally nothing, it's bizarre and almost comical if it wasn't so stupid!

You're right. (I feel like that's all I've said for the past 2 weeks, but I can't disagree with much of what you're saying). I think I remember telling you before, about our mentality after we clinched survival by beating Everton at the Stadium of Light. As I left the ground, people were hugging each other and partying like we won the FA cup. The players, were doing a lap of honor and Sam Allardyce was doing a sing-song! I was cringing personally. Yes, I was relived that we weren't going down, but I certainly wasn't celebrating. Winners don't celebrate finishing 4th from bottom of a Division. We're never going to compete for Europe, but let's at least aim high and try to break into the top 10, then we can celebrate if we achieve that.

If we want to be respected in football, if we want to seriously compete and aim to win a cup, we had to stop accepting the 'wooden spoon' prize. Unfortunately, it's too late for that now, we had 10 years consecutively in the Premiership to consolidate and make progress, and with the exception of 1 season under Bruce, we were battling relegation every season, eventually, our luck ran out. You look at teams like Southampton, Stoke & Watford and how they have a good model, how they try to improve every year and rarely get dragged in the relegation battle, because they have high ambitions and don't accept failure lightly. I wish we had a similar efficient model.

I'm still proper hurting from last night, I couldn't sleep, just so angry. I think about your "where is the tangible rage?" comment, I see what you mean, but I think we're way past that mate, I think we were raging under David Moyes, then it just got worse, now a lot of fans are at an 'I just don't care anymore' point. Which is heartbreaking, I'm personally not there yet, I'll still go to every home game next season and 5+ away games, (Unless I can't due to work) but I've 100% lost some of my passion. I used to jump out of bed on Saturday, arrange to meet my mate in a boozer, absolutely buzzing, then walk over the bridge to the match with a genuine "We can win this!" approach. Now, going to the game is a bit of a chore, I fully expect to see a dull, defensive approach and to ultimately end up losing - Anything else is a bonus. I can't relate to any of the players, there's just nothing. The club is dying a slow, painful death.

There's so many things wrong with the club, we've got loan players scattered amongst our team who just don't care, we've persisted with deadwood like Cattermole & John O'Shea, who still get game time despite playing rancid for months, simply because there's no-one else to replace them, we've got 3 keepers who are all equally dreadful, we haven't got any creativity, we haven't got a natural proven goalscorer amongst many other things.

There's a real danger of us falling over the cliff altogether, unless something drastic happens.

Sorry for boring you senseless with my long post mate.

I've always considered Sunderland's support to be good, especially at home, although in the final few years of being in the PL it's clear they gave away large amounts of free tickets to boost their crowds.

But something I have noticed about them is this 'pat eachother on the back' attitude they have about their support. Seems to be a North East thing. Had a look at their forum and there is a topic about their fans, and if anyone dares to criticise them or suggest they're not a cut above everyone else they get dismissed as a Newcastle fan lol.

The truth is, their away support has shown themselves this season to be very similar to a lot of clubs who they think they are head and shoulders above. Don't get me wrong, they're going through absolute turmoil as a fanbase and I appreciate they would get lower turnouts because of it but that is also true of many other clubs who go down and their support starts to reduce - Bolton, Blackburn, Portsmouth, the Sheffield clubs etc. They have had numerous sub 1K away supports this season which doesn't set them apart from the Norwich's and Blackburn Rovers types. Some are also claiming they've been through worse than the Sheffield clubs in the last 10 years which is a strange view.
