Super Lee Carsley

Ummm...and of those 5 you mentioned (although Fernandes is back), only Arteta can hold the ball up, beat his marker regularly, doesn't get dispossessed, and create for others.

Cahill & Osman rely on others and Pienaar's a mixed bag.

So if you're asking me where I've been all season, I'll ask you where you were when we played Chelsea, Arsenal, & Man U? Because in those matches, our lack of creativity was seriously exposed. Guessing you missed that then?

Yes but we also conceded daft goals against them. One of which was a [Poor language removed] up by Carlsey.

Seriously mate, I'm surprised to read this from you, your usually full of sense.

It really is a logical solution. Honestly.

Carsley has been one of best players this season. It no coincidence that our run of good form coincided with his return to the side.

Replacing him is not a job for a January window -particularly when he's playing so well and we have players who can stand in for him at a push.

I think Moyes is already looking into this - I think he wanted jags to do it originally, and he looked at Vogel as cover.

I'm quite happy not to have a team of eleven show ponies as long as the grafters do their job well.

Against chelsea and arsenal its because our defensive midfielders who win the ball then lose it or give it away that we are exposed for a lack of creativity.

who has he got to stand in? Jags played there and looked out of his depth. Neville is much better at full back.

We need to buy a defensive midfielder and we need to do it now.

I watched those games and what was lacking was a tenacious midfielder one that could stamp his authority on the game get his foot on the ball and spread the play around. Mascherano does it for Liverpool, Makelele and Mikel do it for Chelsea.

Someone that isn't afraid to take the ball out of defence and provide an outlet for a pass Carsley simply will not do that. Defense and nothing else with Carsley that's why he needs replacing.

Hahaha...many would disagree with you there. :P

I will submit that the signing of Manny through the end of the season (who knows after that?) alleviates many of the attacking issues that we've had up to now.

The main screw up I've seen Carsley have this year was SWP's goal in the Carling Cup. But other than that, the guy hasn't been mistake prone.

Finally, some sense. Well done mate.

All the great clubs start their attacks from deep, they get the ball to the defensive midfielder and he starts the moves. Carsley just [Poor language removed] it as hard as he can. The last remnant of Dogs of War. I want to see more than that.

Yes, but he hasn't exactly been Vieira who is the kind of player we need. Arsenal spent 1m on him.

We have enough quality ahead of Carlsey, we just need quality in his position.

Thanks for making my point for me Zero.

Because players like that would cost us how much again?

Diarra cost Arsenal 2 Million, he'd do that. Depends where you look doesn't it.

What I do know is its the only thing that's keeping us from being a champions league side. all of the top 4 have one so why don't we. even Spurs have Zokora who is hit and miss granted but he can still orchestrate an attack.

Yes, but he doesn't being attacks. He just boots the ball away. We criticise Neville and Hibbert for making aimless passes, Carsley doesn't have the intelligence or style to orchastrate attacks and pick out passes.

Carsleys job is to break up the play and give the ball to ossie or arteta and he has been doing that very well.

Yes, but that's not enough to break into the top 4. We need somebody who break up play and then start up attacks by driving the team on.
