Ok, fair enough. The 12th seed. Not really top class. Barty, Osaka...those type of players are in a different class. She faced Bencic in quarter final who is ranked 12 in the world lol.

I expected Raducanu to beat Fernandez with more ease, tbh.
Fernandez serves to get the point in motion, it's not a weapon. She's mobile and chases down shots, but not really dictating rallies (although she did well enough last night...but that was because Raducanu was hesitant and not hitting through her shots on occasion).
I could easily see the pair of them not winning a slam title from this point, tbh. It was just one of those freak tournaments. I think Covid19 has had a massive impact on disrupting all sports.
You obviously don't know or understand the protocol regarding blood from an open wound in sport (or you choose to ignore it). That was gamesmanship from her. That said, Im sure Fernandez would have tried it if it was the other way around.
don't go arguing this with factsShe faced Bencic in quarter final who is ranked 12 in the world lol.
There was definitely a hell of a lot to do. Do you think Raducanu faked the injury to gain an advantage? She'd lost a few pointsAnother point won and she's back on serve in the 2nd set in a verty tight encounter.
Hardly a "a hell of a lot to do".
Momentum is everything in tennis. If Fernandez had broken back to 5-4 with her serve to come it could have got in Raducanu's head.

You can only beat who's put in front of you.Ok, fair enough. The 12th seed. Not really top class. Barty, Osaka...those type of players are in a different class.
The Williams brothers are finished, she'll get no competition from those lads.Maybe, but they've got time on their side.
It does seem to happen a lot more in women's tennis than men's - athletes hitting an early peak and then struggling to continue it. But doesn't take away from the achievement.
Osaka's form dips and dives, Serena is going to go all out for that one final slam next year. I don't really see any of the other big names putting together a consistent run other than possibly Barty. Andreescu has been affected by injury/covid this year too, hasn't she? Halep if she can get over her injury issues.

during a period when Leylah seemed to be tiring and was very unlikely to come back from there.
I didn't see them, but sometimes the odds pop up about the likely winner and I wonder what they were.
You didn't comment on the Emma's nationality issue, but did you know where you were born when you were two?
She didn't fake it, she utilised it.
Wipe knee with towel, crack on. That's what would usually happen. It was smart use of a medical break by Raducanu. There isn't a utilised, blood = stop. It could have messed with her mind when serving for the next point too. Fernandez by the same principle could have utilised the time to get ready to win that next point.

Well I think Serena will give it one more big shot next year to get that record. The Williams brothers are finished, she'll get no competition from those lads.
