Terrible hotels/hostels you've stayed in

Went travelling to Eastern Europe in 2005. Got to Slovakia, met two stunning Eastern European chicks. I nailed one, my mate nailed the other. Next day they acted like completely different people and took us to a barn in the middle of nowhere. He's dead now and I've only got one arm.

.
Erm....

Stayed in the only hotel in Holguin, small town in eastern Cuba, hotel was ... ok, but the room was grim, black with mold, broken window, roaches, bathroom would've given the CDC a fright.
I had a massive row with the manager til we got a better room.

He bought me a whisky in the bar later on, think he was glad of the break in the routine.

I blame Stalinist socialism.

A few on the CA thread blame Tony Blair and US sanctions.

I wouldn't say it was terrible but the worst one I've stayed in was in Bulgaria, it was a new hotel but a bit too New as the builders were still working there, finishing up outside it. So there was cones with tape between them as paths where we had to walk.
The pool was still empty and had a barrier around it, even though it had been advertised as having a pool..
Still made the best of it, there was a "pool side" table quiz beside the empty pool, myself, the misses and 2 women we met from Reading entered and won it, I remember being confused at the 2 from Reading answering "Thames" as the longest river in Britain, and doing it so confidently that I was doubting my own answer.

Errrrr okay......... anyway,

I remember staying in a hotel (I use that word loosely) in Central Amsterdam paying €25 extra per night for a room with a window - yes, paying for natural light.

Anyway, it wasn't natural light that was visible through the window: our cell's window looked straight into a lift shaft that people used all through the night.

The gas chamber (sorry, bathroom) didn't have a door either, so when you were in bed you had a full on view of your mate sat on the throne and taking a dump.

The promised 24-hour bar was a vending machine in the lobby too. No, no, I'm not bitter about this.

We stayed in a tee-pee in Wales once, it was the first day of the season and for some reason, the proprietor had not bothered to clean it out. A whole winter of fox, sheep, badger, spiders, leaves, rain, slugs etc had all left their mark some where in side. My 9 year old daughter was not having it, we had to sleep in the car it was that bad

Stayed in a horrible place in Paris, mould, damp and half the group got eaten by bed bugs. Another one in Amsterdam I walked into the bathroom and the shower was a hose hanging out the wall and there was a half eaten ham sandwich left on the shower tray
