Thank You Bill Kenwright Plane Banner

Regardless of your viewpoint on Kenwright (and that discussion has been had a hundred times in other threads), flying a plane to thank a Chairman is a bit lame.

No, I was there too, and Johnson was a bad owner who sold the club's star striker behind the managers back, who undermined Joe Royle to cause him to quit/sacked him, lost numerous key transfer targets due to sheer incompetence/arrogance (eg Nigel Martyn), dropped Z-Cars, approved Dixie the foam mascot, allowed a Gwladys Street band to play during matches.... the list of horrors go on and on.

The point was, there were a few things he did right. In the same way Kenwright has done a few things right, and lot of things wrong/badly too. Making out Johnson is this 'worst owner' and that Kenwright is so much better is such a simplistic and untrue argument.

I'd massively disagree with that, that's not backing Bill in any massive way btw. In addition to the above you mention which was abhorant, the "successes" mentioned - park end, mega store, breaking transfer records, we were as good as bankrupt our Turnover to debt ratio was almost 90% and increasing every week, the club would have gone under at worst or at best sucked down the divisions. The cup and the season after was fools gold, He fluked with Joe, then acted the Ted, Mrs Royle raised no fools and Joe saw the writing on the wall. Johnson destroyed the nucleus of something that could have been very special, Joe was doing an amazing job.

Neither Johnson nor Bill I believe had/s bad intentions, but Bill is a far better owner for the simple reason that the club almost didn't go out of existence on his watch, I said at the time he was a custodian of the club, he's done a good job stabilising and growing the club from the above relative starting point, strangely like Moyes , change could well be better. But Johnson was a carpet bagger who ran the club to the brink, I will vehemently always state and reiterate that.

What was the club debt when Johnson left, and what is it now?
What tangible club assets did we own when Johnson left, as compared to now?

I'm not defending Johnson, I'm saying Kenwright isn't that much better.
Kenwright gets a free ride because 'he's a blue'. If anyone else did half of what he's done, they'd be burning effigies outside the Winslow.

Under Kenwright we have an absentee 2nd majority shareholder who has attended one game in 8 years, doesn't put a penny into the club, mocked the club's fans on U.S. tv, and whose sole tweet in the days after the club's greatest ever manager died was to wish Jushin Bieber a happy birthday. This leech owns nearly a quarter of the club, and was brought into the club by Kenwright so that he could silence his former best friend Paul Gregg and maintain his power grip on the club.

It won't widen much of a gap among the people at the ground on the day.

It will on here, of course, where a sizeable body of posters were doing their utmost yesterday to rubbish a 6-2 victory.

All manner of things one sees causing acrimony on here cause barely a ripple in the ground on matchdsys.

Leon Osman is much loved by the Goodidon faithful.....on here his inclusion in the team is the signal for fumeageddon.

We had a civil war on here over the tribute to Mr. Moyes in his last game.......at Goodison 99% of people just got on with giving him a splendid send off.

On here people who don't go the game were outraged at fans booing the rubbish we watched last season......non boo-ers in the ground just let them get on with it.

The day we gave him a standing ovation when his face came up on the big screen caused apoplexy on the firum here.

In short, GOT for all it's worthy attributes is not a truly accurate barometer of the feelings of people in greater Evertonia.

Out there Bill is well liked by most people and IMO well worthy of a thank you banner.

The guy is ill and I worry his match going days are over.

We honoured one great Evertonian this past week.......Bill is a great Evertonian in a different way and it is great he is to be honoured and thanked whilst he is still alive IMO.

here ear.

Dont get all the hate for the man. Sure we need a new stadium, sure they never ploughed millions inti the club but were would we be without him when he first took over ? I understand the board have hit their limit and change is needed but there is more than just bill. Personally i think the board as a whole need to face the music. Kenwright is hung out to dry 99% of the time by the rest of the powers that be.
