Thank You Bill Kenwright Plane Banner

What?

Title.. would you let a foreign owner get a way with this?

How is that not in some way suggesting we have issues with foreigners or foreign owners? Its like a Daily Mail headline.
It's worded poorly perhaps, but I think the message is:
"If Bill wasn't such a 'top blue' would you let him get away with all this".

This ownership group gets away with a fair amount, possibly because of the improvement over the 90's, but also possibly because Bill is a great pr man.

But how much is that a merit for Kenwright? The club's training grounds at Bellefield and Netherton were archaic and needed to be upgraded. Kenwright's been here as the largest shareholder and vice chairman/chairman for 16 years. The upgrade at FF merely coincided with that tenure. As for not being able to afford it: that's what the Bear Stearns securitisation deal was taken out for - to pay for a training complex. They did that then sold it off to the private sector who then sold it to the council.

There really is nothing to thank Kenwright for over FF.

Didn't we only sell the land?

Come on, GOT. Do it. For the children.

Cheese. Toast. Not just good, but good for you.

(btw, I don't twit, but somebody needs to tweet this gofundme to Roger Bennett ASAP - he'd be on this like cheese on toast)

Done!

That's not to be underestimated, many richer owners have failed to achieve that, and it will always take precedence over whether catering was once set up in a tented area, or if we rent or buy our world class training facility.

Sadly as much as their heart is in the right place, many things the anti bill movement do seem to be worded poorly and/or badly thought out.. Your failures are your legacy being another imo.

They are of course just a group of Evertonians that speak on behalf of some other Evertonians, so its no surprise their messages are left open to subjective reading, they are not PR experts, but coming out with a flyer that basically says Evertonaians only let him get away with it with because he's not foreign is mental tbh, regardless of any subtleties in the original meaning. Why wouldn't they just say.. if he wasnt' a Blue or wasn't from Liverpool?

If it came from across the park, we would be mocking them mercilessly for it.

Oh I agree. I feel the anti-board movement often shoots itself in it's own feet. The problems are there to see, but too often they get muddled with conspiracies, personal attacks, and unfounded accusations.

That said, we cannot be content with mere 'improvement from the 90's'. If we're happy being also-rans, why even play the matches?

The message of the flyer is good, but I agree that the presentation is lacking, and you're dead right that if it was Liverpool @davek would be having an absolute field day.

We need investment. That's the simple truth. We will never progress and will inevitably fall behind without it. This board does not offer it. I fail to see why we should applaud a board for what is - in truth - failure to win anything.

wouldnt be suprised if the thank you bill banner wont be flying after this ridiculous escapade. would be maybe wiser not to agitate the haters. riginal thought might not be heard through this mess.

It's a staple of the MSM that bolly's both an Evertonian* AND English. We're constantly made aware of it by them.

They offer very little else other than those two things. And tbh if that's the best they can do...

Secondly imo.

Can't argue with that, problem is, there are positives that are a bi-product of how we have been run compared to others, that people fail to acknowledge. Its a very biased, one way view of Kenwright that emanates from the internet, not replicated within the stands.

In fact compared to most owners, he's actually done a good job of improving us where it counts, and a lack of investment has been overshadowed by the right choice of managers. This is the biggest problem when it comes to convincing the Everton fans that havn't looked further into how we are run to actually do so. Why bother.. ?

We were abysmal, now we are actually quite good, the future looks like we may be even better with the TV money, and because of it, we are now financially viable and buying 28m strikers..

Those that do bother to look though, then have to filter through the outrage of Bill buying his wife a neckless at a charity, or deliberately lowering Pienaars wage offer so he leaves on a free, or people ranting about Lawnmowers, like some sort of dim witted 80's Virtual Reality based film character, and all the other bs that people come up with.. to eventually come across the grey areas that matter, unfortunately, they are grey areas pigeonholed into black and white answers filled with half truths and just plain sarcasm and often you get grief for even asking.

Imagine getting through all the above obstacles, to the point you actually still want to find out about say.. DK.. then get met by some of the people on here and the responses they give if you don't utterly despise the man or understand the most intricate of details about an event.. You have to question why they would bother sticking around to find out.

And that is also why I said I liked the flyer, it gets rid of the need for most of the above, its still only half the story, but it tells that half.. Just can't for the life of me understand why they would go with that title lol

At least now people can come on to here, or the BU site or wherever and say, i'm reading this flyer, can someone fill me in on what happened with Kings Dock. And with the knowledge they are trying to learn instead of stir things up, I think this place would suddenly become quite helpful.

Land was owned by Finch Farm ltd and the facility was built by them on it. Then they sold up to LCC.

So we bought and sold a fully developed world class training facility? I didn't think that was the case.. Doesn't matter either way, always good to get our facts right though eh Dave?
