Thank You Bill Kenwright Plane Banner

Can't argue with that, problem is, there are positives that are a bi-product of how we have been run compared to others, that people fail to acknowledge. Its a very biased, one way view of Kenwright that emanates from the internet, not replicated within the stands.

In fact compared to most owners, he's actually done a good job of improving us where it counts, and a lack of investment has been overshadowed by the right choice of managers. This is the biggest problem when it comes to convincing the Everton fans that havn't looked further into how we are run to actually do so. Why bother.. ?

We were abysmal, now we are actually quite good, the future looks like we may be even better with the TV money, and because of it, we are now financially viable and buying 28m strikers..

Those that do bother to look though, then have to filter through the outrage of Bill buying his wife a neckless at a charity, or deliberately lowering Pienaars wage offer so he leaves on a free, or people ranting about Lawnmowers, like some sort of dim witted 80's Virtual Reality based film character, and all the other bs that people come up with.. to eventually come across the grey areas that matter, unfortunately, they are grey areas pigeonholed into black and white answers filled with half truths and just plain sarcasm and often you get grief for even asking.

Imagine getting through all the above obstacles, to the point you actually still want to find out about say.. DK.. then get met by some of the people on here and the responses they give if you don't utterly despise the man or understand the most intricate of details about an event.. You have to question why they would bother sticking around to find out.

And that is also why I said I liked the flyer, it gets rid of the need for most of the above, its still only half the story, but it tells that half.. Just can't for the life of me understand why they would go with that title lol

At least now people can come on to here, or the BU site or wherever and say, i'm reading this flyer, can someone fill me in on what happened with Kings Dock. And with the knowledge they are trying to learn instead of stir things up, I think this place would suddenly become quite helpful.
I actually generally agree with what you're saying.

He seems to be a good football man, but he's a bad businessman (in football) which is increasingly important. The choice in managers and patience with them papers over the cracks of our investment. If we ever want to actually challenge for honours as we did in the 80's though, Everton need investment. We need a stadium solution, we need to improve our commercial revenue, and we need someone with the business acumen to make that happen.

This board arguably stabilized us with the choice of David Moyes and patience with him. Now we need to progress - which is where this board has been failing us. Simply spending tv money won't be enough - everyone gets that money - we need to keep up with the revenue flows of our competition, which is something our board has historically failed to do.

There is no need to paint Kenwright as a monster, a bad person, or someone actively trying to harm Everton. He is simply someone that is incapable of fostering the progression Everton need to reach the highest levels once again. That should be enough to desire a change.

It is a shame that the people that pay attention to this side tend to focus on seedier, unprovable complaints rather than the simple facts that speak for themselves.

Totally agree.
He has the done the best job he can do, unfortunately football and finances has dramatically moved on.

Yes he could have sold, but to who? Bar Chelsea and City's owners who else would have been a viable option?

He should be commended as always having the clubs best interests at heart, but to be successful we need a change.

Saying he is taking money out etc is frankly embarrassing.

Didn't we only sell the land?

Yes, we got the land for cheap off Knowsley Council and sold it to a developer for 2 million.

Construction cost was 8 million, which we some how couldn't afford even though we sold Bellefield for more.

We've probably paid in the region of 10 million on lease fees and if we want to own it we would have to fork out 15 million. It's a bad deal in my view.

I tell you what's a good deal though, 540 quid for a Cheese on Toast banner.

Didn't it take a few years to sell Bellfield because of planning permission and the global financial crisis?

Liverpool Council rejected the original plans, might have done that to be awkward over us trying to move to Kirkby.

Yeah something like that, it wasn't as simple as money in from one went on money for the other. There was something like a 3 year difference between the two happening.

So we bought and sold a fully developed world class training facility? I didn't think that was the case.. Doesn't matter either way, always good to get our facts right though eh Dave?
I can't see the point here. You're saying FF is a reason to thank Kenwright for. But he did nothing. He just allowed the existing facilities at Bellefield and netherton to be sold, and then bought and sold a piece of land in Halewood to a developer who built the facility.

I'm still missing where Kenwright gets credit here.
