But we do have control over it. Poverty, as I keep pointing out, is a political decision. And anyway, "not getting worked up about things you have no control over" would be laughably fatalistic if it weren't so depressing an attitude. No individual had control over workers pay and conditions and yet the belief that they should improve brought about improvements for the workers. Had you been born in the 18th century, you'd have no control over the existence of slavery, and yet it was eventually abolished (no thanks to your kind, no doubt - no control over it, you see). Maybe nobody would know Rosa Parks' name if she'd thought "Ah well, no point in getting worked up about it."

Speaking up about the iniquities of modern society is not a waste of time and doing so is not "getting worked up."

My kind? In terms of discrimination, there is plenty I can do in my own behaviours, and I try and lead my life accordingly. Is it possible for me to alter the discrimination that still takes place in areas like job applications? I'd say not, but I can certainly ensure whenever I deal with anyone professionally that I do so ethically.

Likewise with the lot of employees. That's something I can do something about and I devote my professional life to promoting and encouraging (what I believe to be) a more enlightened way of working.

I can try and keep a lid on some of the misoginy that bubbles under on this place, or I can encourage diversity in our workplaces, but I can't cure every instance of sexual discrimination in the world.

Ones energy is finite, so I try and devote mine in ways that offer the best chance of doing something beneficial with them.

The UKIP leader, Nigel Farage, is a Member of the European Parliament. UKIP believe that the European Union doesn't work, and want the UK to leave. They see it as a 'gravy train' for some people. Despite being democratically elected to represent their electorates at the European Parliament, Farage and his fellow 23 UKIP MEPs openly don't bother to do the work they were elected to do ie. they don't turn up for meetings/votes etc. They are however happy to be part of the 'gravy train' and claim their tax payer funded salary of £78,000 per year, plus considerable expenses. Farage has been doing this since 1999. Hope this helps!

That's a fair point like.

I would vote UKIP any day over the 3 child buggering establishment parties that look, talk and preach the same neo liberal crap.

The fact they are rising faster than my penis when holly willoughbys on the tele shows people have had enough. It's a shame theirs not a better alternative but any one will do me right now

UKIPers should be moved to the low lying land in the north of the Netherlands so as to experience the climate change that they refuse to do anything about.

They will all require visas though.

And Ukip aren't a corrupt establishment party?

Nige the man that hates the eu so much is quite happy to take 1000's in expenses every year

The Green Party are the second largest party to make up Liverpool City Council. They're the alternative.

Yes, if Farage was stealing money, he'd be arrested. We have these little things called laws, and stealing is against one of them.
Nice attempt at patronising me because I disagree with you. The last refuge for someone losing an argument, I'd say.

Here's some more evidence for Farage and his chums stealing tax payer's money;

Over the last 5 years, UKIP MEPs have turned up for just 61.1% of all votes.
UKIP ranked bottom in league table of 76 parties from across the EU.
Surprisingly the Lib Dems have the best record of actually turning up for a days work of all UK MEPs.

If leaving the EU is the only reason that you'll be voting UKIP, are you aware that other minority parties are also offering an in/out referendum on the EU? The Greens for example. And even the Tories, damn them...

Problem with the greens they think we live in some utopia which isn't the case, their energy policy is flaky at best right now and their immigration policy isn't gonna go down well in this country anytime soon. Not too mention their stance on nuclear weaponry, the events of Ukraine have shown we need that deterrent just as much as we did 50 years ago.
