Alex Salmond has announced he's standing for Westminster

Should make things interesting. Our next deputy prime minister?

Would he be the leader of the SNP in Westminster? Be odd having the SNP leader as First Minister in Scotland, and then him as Deputy PM in Westminster. Like would he have to ask her what to do all the time? Which doesnt sound that democratic to me.

Doubt it, he'll never do a deal with the Tories and Labour will probably need both the Lib Dems and the SNP to form a coalition.

If anyone had any lingering doubts whatsoever about whether Farage is a racist moron, here you go - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-30370570
Did he just blame being late for a meeting on immigrants? lol

Look, I don't mind people's opinions cutting immigration at all and in some cases they have good points but with Farage it seems like the answer to every single problem is cutting immigration, I just don't get it. Big deficit? Cut immigration. Government is too big? Cut immigration. How do we grow the economy? Cut immigration & exit the EU. Bad foreign policy? Cut immigration & exit the EU. Late for a meeting? Exit the EU & cut immigration. Waitrose ran out of milk? Cut immigration. I have a bad back? Cut immigration and exit the EU. ONE SIZE FITS ALL

Just read the best description of him.

He's Enoch Powell mixed with Alan Partridge.

Farage isn't the only moron in town.

"A Conservative peer - also a former brewery boss - has been labelled “ridiculous” for blaming Britain’s Muslim community for the collapse in pub numbers.

During a House of Lords debate, Lord Hodgson of Astley Abbotts, who was a director of Marston’s brewery in Burton Upon Trent for 12 years, said that “socio-economic factors”, including a growing number of teetotal Muslims, were more responsible for dwindling pub number than “rapacious” pub chains.

Speaking in defence of the major pub chains, the former MP said: “In areas of Nottingham, Leicester, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham the increase in the Muslim population who don’t drink leads to many pub closures. It is exceptionally hard for a publican who has put 10 years of his life into trying to build up a business to accept the inevitability of these tides of history.”

His comments were quickly condemned by Muslim rights campaigners. Fiyaz Mughal, the director of Faith Matters, an interfaith and anti-extremist organisation, said: “It is quite ridiculous to blame Muslims for the closure of pubs when in fact the consumption and marketing of alcohol has also changed over time. What is also clear is that some pubs have been successful and others have not been able to generate customers and clients.”

What a buffoon. Tactic to deflect from the real state of Britain - blame immigrants for everything and some of it might stick.

But what the Tories can't get away from is the extent some will go to to protect the establishment.

"Two members of Theresa May’s panel inquiring into child sex abuse are facing calls to resign after being accused of sending threatening or insulting emails to victims who had criticised the inquiry.

Lawyers for one abuse survivor have written to the home secretary to complain of a string of unsolicited communications, including an allegedly threatening email sent two days before an official meeting that both panellists and an abuse survivor were due to attend.

The victim, who is on medication for post-traumatic stress disorder, was left too anxious to attend the “listening meeting” in November. The development will be a huge embarrassment to May, who has already seen two chairs to the inquiry stand down since it was launched in July, both over conflicts of interest. A source close to the inquiry’s secretariat said the emails should not have been sent, leaving the fate of the panel members in doubt".

The prominence of anti immigrant stories is typical of the blame game this government is shouting loud and clear, whether that be immigrants or dole claimants. But tackling a real abuse that will expose the den of iniquity that is the Palace of Westminster and prosecuting MPs and the rest of the establishment paedophiles is another matter. They will bury it. They will kick it into the long grass.

Is that chap but making a valid point re tee-total Muslims though? He's just starting a fact that in areas where non-drinkers are rising, pubs will see income fall. I'm not going to flatly defend anyone who is openly racist, but the guy just seems to be stating one factor. Your quote even says 'factors including', so this may be just one of many reasons he gave.
