really ? any idea what's meant by "immersing yourself in british culture" ?

Oh god one of those people. Happy to come across as tolerant of other people's 'cultures and beliefs' but the British arnt allowed them.

How about speaking English, how about freedom, tolerance of others beliefs, the view that Jews shouldn't be wiped off the earth, that beig gay is ok in a modern society, that child rape is not cool, that everyone has the right to express their opinions- even women, that speaking English is a vital part of society and that's not to mention all the little things that makes our country so great. If people don't want to be a part of that they can [Poor language removed], only problem is they've been allowed to not be a part of that and withdraw from society willingly all in the name of 'tolerance' of course.

I'm not talking about cultural assimilation. Everyone should e proud of whatever culture they came from but they should also embrace the British way of thinking. Isn't that why they're here in the first place? Isn't it? Oh right....

So basically speaking english & tolerance ?

Well I'm not exactly sure what "one of those people" is, but as is probably evident, I don't agree with your "integration plan", however I'll leave you to it, good luck with the campaign.

I take it as coming to a country, and embracing the values, traditions, and culture of that country. No problems with folk retaining their own believes and stuff, (what makes this country ace in a lot of ways), but shutting yourself away in some sort on enclave is not good.

And that would apply to Brits buying up villages in France, and apartments in Spain, then demanding baked beans and branston pickle.

Suppose that's the funny thing though mate. Whenever my other half goes back to Czech now, she finds it hard to eat the traditional Czech diet because she's used to eating healthily. I mean they don't really do porridge there ffs. So if she were to move back home, you could argue by that logic that she wouldn't be integrating.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that it's always going to be impossible to create hard and fast rules that really work. All too complicated innit?

Nothing I've said is in the slight bit unreasonable. It's just common sense. We tried the open no holds barred thing, it didn't work. Your beloved Labour Party admitted as such. It did not work. I fear the damage is done but maybe there is still time for change. Only way to do it is bring in measures to attract the people we do want, the professionals, the educated, the ones who could benefit us as a nation from the ones who we don't want, the criminals, the benefit thieves, the ones who wish to moan at every opportunity about our way of life etc etc.

Oh I know mate, but it's all part of Nik's five year pl....sorry "Integration Plan"
If the worst comes to the worst and the immigrants refuse to integrate...what then? The final solution? :D I actually asked this question to some EDL members, you'd be surprised at their response haha

Yeah, but you dont need hard and fast rules. Just common courtesy. Like the Japanese like you to take your shoes off when in their house, or something like that, so it would be rude to ignore that tradition if you decided to live there.

And I would like to think that if I moved to Japan, I would embrace that when locals visited me. Then I would offer them a pint, or some wine, or something British to eat.

My fave christmas meals were at my Aunts place. She is Norwegian, so made all this Norwegian stuff, and had different traditions on pressies and that. Was brilliant. And that was in Hoylake.

I think that is what @EFCNIK is alluding to.

Why does every discussion on the topic always result in someone talking about them? Absolute scare tactics. It's an important issue that needs discussing not shutting down. That's how you push beliefs underground and hey ho, you get groups like the edl forming. You're all a perfect match for each other.

You're right mate we don't have a culture. The rest of the world does though.

I'm aware it's unpopular but I'm patriotic so I'm afraid the casual digs as if I'm not proud to be English / british don't really hit with me . I'm a casual student of history and we have a huge amount to proud of , let's not kid ourselves we have a few less proud events in our past as well . I however asked a question and I tried to reduce your paragraph to a few words , I personally believe there is a little more to british culture than not raping kids but we all see things differently .

What I'm not is a little englander that seems to think stopping johnny Foriegner having the same rights as every other citizen will make them feel interegrated . no child benefit for example ? Having had family receive NHS care I'm certainly pleased with the quality of some immigrants to this nation and the benefits they bring to our society . I also have a grudging admiration for immigrants who manage to take everyone's jobs and be lazy benefits scroungers apparently simultaneously .

If you choose to live in a foreign country, it is good manners to make some sort of effort to fit in. Dont you think?

I absolutely think it's important I don't think its a revolutionary idea like.
