Look at somebody like Alan Sugar. While he's not an immigrant he started selling aerials out of the back of a van and now he's created billions of pounds of spending in the British economy.

I personally would have no problem with an aspirational, motivated person coming into the UK from anywhere in the world. Our society is peppered with ace examples of such like.

But I dont think that is the issue some have. It is the fact that a significant minority of immigrants are here, and show no inclination to assimilate even a little bit into the culture and ways of a country they have decided to call home.

You're right there should be scope to let some of these people in, but not on the scale we have been. We have enough people to do that and letting in so many unskilled labourers drives the minimum wage down. Not officially of course but if you think construction don't do cash in hand then you're mad. Companies will of course employ the polish guy who will work for 3 quid an hour over the Englishman (native or not) who demands higher. The far left wing always mock such points with the standard 'dey took our jobs' thing, but it is happening especially in labour and DIY. So in my opinion it needs to be regulated much more heavily. I don't blame these people for coming, I blame the governments who insist on remaining such a soft touch As I sa, I don't have all the answers but there needs to be SOMETHING done.

We employed around 8 polish guys to do refurbishment around our house, does that anger you? They all regularly came on time as well, very punctual.

No that they have enough money to support themselves, that they have accommodation to go to without relying on the state, that they have a job already to go to, and yes that they can't claim benefits for at least a year and that they can speak English.

That would sort out the sort of people we want and who want to be here for reasons other than the benefits they get. It's not unreasonable no matter how much you try to make other people's opinions look stupid, which we all know is a classic left wing tactic.

Because I'm not an intolerant anti muslim and anti immigration that immediately makes me , or makes me utilise 'a classic left wing tactic' , can you tell by how close my eyes are together or the size or my ears ? I'm not particularly left wing as it happens but that's by the bye really .

In all fairness I don't have a problem at all with a desirability to have immigrants speaking English , in fairness the Tories have been pushing it for years . I'm not trying to make you or your 'ideas' look stupid at all , I foolishly asked you a question and you responded that your understanding of English culture was not raping kids and not exterminating Jews . now I didn't say that to make you look stupid you actually did that all by yourself . No mention of some of the greatest writers in history , or on a football forum even sport , what about the royal family or to be a bit different celebrations like Pancake Tuesday , Morris dancing , fairgrounds ,fetes or music ? What about manners , you know queuing or sorry every second word . I could go on but you think being English is about not raping kids and you accuse me of trying to make you look stupid ? If you'd just said tolerance then I don't think its necessarily culture but you'd have been closer .

The point is like I say if you'd spoken about integration then it might have been interesting to a degree because I think there is a debate to be had but instead you used it to have a pop at Islam and talk about cutting benefits you know in that 'Classic way 'cryto fascists do to pretend to the world that they aren't really Nasty fascists.

It doesn't anger me. If I were you I'd do the same. It was cheaper and they work damn hard.

You see, I have an actual ability to understand another's point of view without need to attempt to defame.

I just don't think there should be an opportunity for doing what you did ( which there is nothing wrong with btw). I'd sooner place emphasis on training our guys up and creating a market where they have to work damn hard, arrive on time and do a good job with the threat that someone else is there to take the work if they don't. I don't think we need hundreds of thousands of foreign labourers to do that. Don't ask me how I'd do that but playing the numbers game, you know 70mill people on s tiny island like ours, I reckon we could do it.
