The Accounts...

We were reportedly in terrible trouble when BK came in.
We were reportedly just about floating when Moshiri came in.

To say we would be in trouble without the Moshiri money is where we were at previously.

Except now we have massive and obscene wages and bobbins players.

So before the accounts were released, I'd say for maybe 2 months, a number of journalists had revealed that Everton had been 'working' with the PL about the financial situation and we'd basically been running an open book policy whereby they had eyes on the accounts when it came to player signings and contracts for well over a year.

Now they're out a number of journalists are questioning how we can attribute so much to covid loses relative to other teams accounts.

In my limited experience in dealing with regulators, cooperation and dialogue before the "event" is usually very productive, for both sides. What gets their hackles up is absence of that before the "event", because they are them lobbed into a protracted argument usually involving lawyers and angst. Regulators like an easy life. We did the same before the USM queue deal was announced.

This is true, when BK came in we didnt have crap players on OTT wages and eyes on what we spend, when Moshiri came in we didnt have crap players on OTT wages and eyes on what we spend, its some job Moshiri has done really when you think about it, a real hatchet inside job, and with his own money too, unreal

  1. Manchester City - £355m
  2. Chelsea - £343m
  3. Manchester United - £323m
  4. Liverpool - £314m
  5. Arsenal - £244m
  6. Tottenham Hotspur - £205m
Its not just as straightforward as looking at the numbers and trying to compare like with like.

For instance the Chelsea numbers aren’t just for the footballing operation which has a wage bill of £309 million and around 400 employees the numbers quoted are for Fordstam the holding company which also owns hotels, night clubs, health club etc and around another 400 staff. Like wise some clubs have wage costs in respect of match day staff such as Chefs, Stewards etc others use agency staff so costs in the accounts are shown elsewhere

An example is Chelsea in their accounts state that on match-day they employ 890 approximately temporary staff Spurs in their accounts around 120

A lot of hand wringing from other fans that the club is corrupt and cheated the system by making up Covid losses to avoid sanctions.

At least the PL have bought it.

Haven't we operated a pretty open book policy with the PL for quite some time now? There seems to have been a lot of back and forth in regards to what is required to avoid sanctions.

Some other clubs have been secretive and attempted to deceive, Everton have seemingly realised there's a mess and worked with the PL to fix it. Of course there's a lot of maximising the impact of Covid & the ground move to create more wriggle room but it seems to have been done in the open with full understanding from both sides in terms of what is required and allowable.

Exactly. Despite the theorists on here, the PL have zero appetite to sanction any club, financially. So have a dialogue, and life becomes much simpler.
