I have said about Kia from day one, every club he has been involved with has ended up on its arse in a world of trouble.
They are basically moving money around to benefit themselves, look at the Iwobi deal, we bought him from Arsenal the same day they bought Luiz, the same day, both players Kia, its not hard to see what was going on there

My answer Zat would be what owners are making a profit from their football club?
Owning a PL club is , unless it's Man U which has a worldwide brand , a vanity project rather than a good commercial exercise.

It is incredible how all these rich business people think they can succeed where others have failed.

I bit like the arrogant manager who thinks that they can get a talent like Ravel Morrison to play for the team and have an end product.

I dont think Moshiri particularly cares about profit at the moment.

I think he sees the club as a status symbol and something he enjoys.

As to your opening question...Kenwright :)

Even if you identify the players who are talented enough and cheap enough to make enough of a difference (and given past performance, that's already a big if) then you are entering a very crowded market with very little pulling power.

Some of the optimistic takes here have left me shaking my head. If we increase the revenue and if we replace the board and if we magically find half a first team who come here... yeah, all very likely and all very plausible.

Anyone arguing we suddenly discover fiscal responsibility, footballing insight and executive competence because suddenly we have to needs to isn't convincing me. Let your starting left back go because of a dispute with the manager you sack the following day and replace with two players who are certainly not ready and possibly not good enough. But suddenly we're going to be like Football Manager Gods with access to the data editor.

Can't see it, no matter how much I want to.

Lampard is an attractive name for a player to want to play for.

Likewise check Thelwell's focus on younger talents.

Moshiri must either be very stupid or have money to burn….or both.

His interest from other investments is eclipsing these losses. During the pandemic he made a lot of money.

Hmm, im beginning to think its as simple as sports washing to be honest.

That is totally illogical. I dont see any logic in this at all.

I accept the reality of FFP / P&S, but I argue they should have no place in the Premier League. They are new rules that are doing far more harm than good. If these accounts were published 10 years ago, nobody would be arsed and Moshiri would be encouraged to carry on spending. That's how it should be! Nobody is forcing him to invest, he's not demented, he has mental capacity.

Agreed. Until these rules came out all the big clubs + City benefited...then suddenly the rules are changed which dooms every other owner.

Its worked for other clubs...in theory we could sell 2 top players this season and 2 next summer and be fine in 2024.

Id actually advocate us doing so this summer as we have the new management team in place.

Last summer we spent £1.7mil...if this summer we breakeven and the same in 2023 im not sure what the issue is?

Why would we only be able to spend a % of sales and not the full amount?

The way FFP/P+S are structured enable clubs to sell players and show those fees on the books immediately...while purchases are spread over the contract length.

So in theory we could sell £100mil worth of players this summer...sign £500mil worth (on lower wages) and have a much healthier set of accounts for player trading.

I dont advocate this for the coming window but thats how the rules are structured.
Because we have declared a covid loss of 180 million this year, which is ridiculous and will be looked upon with scepticism by the authorities, especially with the new domestic ruling body.

Also, Moshiri has not got the Usmanov money behind him, allegedly, neither do we have the inflated sponsorship from his companies to show on the balance sheet.

We have taken the pish out of the regulations and we will be watched very carefully now. I would also be surprised if Moshiri has any desire to invest heavily in the playing side of the club. After the catastrophic mess he has made of things, his goal will be to get the stadium finished and salvage as much of his investment as possible.

Moshiri is a businessman, not an Evertonian, it's an investment for him and, an investment that is going belly up.

But sure, yeah, you believe what you want over transfers and get back to me in September.

He is the manager because we needed someone and there was nobody else unless you would prefer Vitor? Also there is already suggestions that he is going to be gone in the summer if we don't stay up.
Why would I prefer Vitor. You’ve turned this discussion around ?. It was you that said Moshiri and Kia will still run the show. If that was the case Vitor would be our manager now.

I wanted Frank last sumner.

Ok fair enough, but i don't think having Frank and a new DoF will make much difference to the current setup, the real changes needed are at the top of the club and its still the same people. We will see what happens in the summer mate.

I agree about the top, And it was obvious Kia was trying to push Vitor on to us and Moshiri nearly bought it. But maybe other influences
Tim Cahill? Changed his mind and thinking.

You hear that Frank wanted DVB and Dele, so the club obviously listened to him, wether it works out is another thing. We can only hope Moshiri is coming to his senses
