Hinchcliffe's Corner

So not great all round then! May as well take an extra bowler and let Wood bowl 3 over spells of pure gas.

I think what they will do, is what they should do. Stokes at 3 against the moving ball wastes what he offers to the team in the middle order, it just moves the collapse further down the innings with less runs on the board. Would keep taking Broad too, bowled quite well and got 10 days off now. What they should do:

- Foakes (WK)

Yeah I can see that, not a terrible shout, I just like him holding the tail together, but England are certainly looking a bit light in the batting.Stokes at 3 was my thing going into this summer, just because he plays his best cricket when he needles and battles into an innings. When he sees off 20/30 balls and then starts to go through the gears, he could get some mega scores at 3. Plus, you'd have Root and Stokes together a lot in collapses and you can't go wrong with those two at the crease, righting the ship.
It should really be his thing when he packs in his all-rounder status and he's a pure batsman. He'd be perfect
Duckett and Crawley got us to stumps on day 3 without losing a wicket. I think that that was vital in getting the win so let’s give some credit. (Note the use of the word think rather than know). Also, Crawley was the second highest scorer in a pressure innings. So again, credit where credit is due.I think Atherton made a great point about why not to move Stokes. Stokes loves to be right in the thick of the action and where he comes in, its usually when we are right in the crap and that's where he excells.
What we could do with is one of the openers sticking it out for longer than 20 minutes at a time. Duckett and Crawley massively flatter to deceive as openers.
Wrong again. As we move towards the inevitable climax @JimmyJeffers begins to consider alternative housing arrangements

My take so far on this series is that neither team has batted particularly well but it has been nip and tuck. Win, lose or draw the series I will still have enjoyed the drama that Test cricket can provide.
I'm sorry but no, stokes is not a number 3, he is doing just fine where he is.What they should do:

You kind of feel that Australia are ahead primarily because they've caught better. I know it's a home series and all, but the fact that England are still in the fight against the best team in the world is no bad place to be in, especially given the sheer dismal form they displayed pre-Bazball.Duckett and Crawley got us to stumps on day 3 without losing a wicket. We have to continuously be told that the boring atmosphere and drab pitches at lords are the high point of cricket, worst ground in the country. Get cricket on the road and get people into the game who don't need a 6 figure salary to join a club.Disgraceful that there are no northern venues for the next home series. Don’t the ECB consider that the Western Terrace is worth a wicket or extra runs to England?
I didn't even realise that. That's madDisgraceful that there are no northern venues for the next home series. Don’t the ECB consider that the Western Terrace is worth a wicket or extra runs to England?
