The Ashes 2023

Not a fan of some of the quotes I'm seeing about a 'moral victory' and 'fair results' from the england camp. Cummins and the aussies were utterly terrified of a 3-2 comback and without rain it would have happened because of their terror and how it was affecting their play. Now they are freed up with nothing to lose while England have to get over a massive kick in balls, ultimately the aussies have better players so without the pressure we had put them under I think they are favourites for this one. A slight dip outside of evens and I might even back them
I don't know if I'm a hard marker of the players but I don't think we've got the better players. A lot of our players are in or entering the twilight of their careers and Marnus who I think is proper world class has been scratching around at the crease for a while now till his last innings. I would honestly say on paper your team edges ours.

Listening to the last word podcast, adam collins was saying similar in that as good as these players have been a lot of them are maybe a touch on the other side of the hill now. That being said if Cummins, Starc, Hazelwood and Green are steaming in its a tough day and getting through that middle order without chasing the game is a big ask. Man for man I'd just give the aussies the edge, I think maybe they didn't cope with Englands tactics as well as they could have, but you could say the same for the other 4 teams we've faced, innovation does that. I think the Aussies will be grateful for the win (or draw) and have had a stellar season, but they might be playing a different style post ashes, be interesting to see who comes through.

I find our batting quite fragile and am not surprised when 0/40 suddenly becomes 4/80. I don't see that with your top order at all, they have got themselves out more than getting done by a good ball. Our top order have all looked all at sea quite a bit away from their nice flat pitches, sunny skies and boxed in stadiums here that don't allow wind to be a factor.
