Beat England early on and get them sweating ✅
Cause absolute mayhem at Lords ✅
Wind up any English Gammons into a smooth frothing lather ✅
Make their new tactics look ridiculous by letting them shoot themselves in the foot time and time again ✅
Bend the rules so much they make them look like dead set Pork Chops defending their honour ✅
Make them contradict themselves and start fighting against each other ✅
Take home the urn again in the worst way possible ✅

Mission Accomplished. Been fun x See you in a couple of years when we do it all again! This time with much better weather and much more intelligent crowds.

Foakes also averages around 40 and its going up, it's not like he's a bunny, he's a decent bat. I really like Bairstow as a batsman, he's not played all that well this summer unfortunately.

Got lucky with McGrath rolling his ankle too, but I think that was a complete side, with a keeper who was picked for keeping too I might add (another bit of luck, taking that catch to win the 4th test when it wouldn't have been out with today's technology). Flintoff was immense that series, 95mph, some big runs.
Wasn't Geraint Jones specifically chosen because he could get runs? With Chris Read being the purists keeper.

sorry Kev, this is your worst post yet

I hope not! I can't remember, he seemed a good keeper. I feel like picking Bairstow to keep is like picking Root to bowl offspin. Bairstow would score more runs if he didn't have gloves too.
I reckon he would score more and he's an absolute gun in the outfield, that will be a selection teaser in India.

My memory is Fletcher wanted a keeper who firstly could score runs (I could be wrong), probably to pick 5 bowlers. Though Jones went as well as he ever did with the gloves in that series.

Ponting's interview straight after the 05 oval game popped up and he talked about the 3rd seamer and an over reliance on warne and mcgrath, I wander if that was the last series that they played with that pretty strict 4 bowlers set up and started to pick the likes of andrew symonds to give the bowlers a bit of option to have a rest.

Been waiting for your post recognising that Aus collapsed from 264/3 to 334 all out. Not really having a go. Just pointing out that all teams do it but people tend to notice much more when it's their team doing it.
Indeed they do! My gripe is that England genuinely do it far more often than the Aussies. It still may be me noting it cos it’s my team, (does this mean Everton aren’t the only team horrific at transfers and in fact all teams are?) but they seem to lack steel when it matters. This was a better ashes for England fight that I can remember

Woakes took 19 wickets in 3 games at 18s and scored a match winning not out at Headingley

Not sure I've seen a player come into a series late and have such a big impact
