By the way Macca, congrats on the first win, more than deserved it, and played very well. Clarke's innings was one of the better Ashes knocks I've seen. It's a shame the talking point has been moved onto unsavoury stuff.

I don't mind the bowler saying it to a tailender, his words were innocent compared to the serves Tommo and Lillee and Merv would have dished out in the day. But to come from him, a bleach blonde blue eyed [Poor language removed], near the end of giving England a hiding, was lacking class.

It has been a long time between wins though, not condoning. Rush of blood. Brain Explosion. Yes, Clarke is a tosser and probably the reason why team harmony has been shocking in the last few years... but I'd love to throw a few choiceys at the main strike bowler as he takes the long walk back to the Pavilion.

It was a good game England rather threw away on a good deck.

Sets up a good series and makes it a little more of a contest.

I wouldn't have minded it if Johnson had said it, different ball game. But to stand there in his face and wave his finger... nevermind, on to Adelaide. Usually a fill your boots pitch with runs a plenty, they've dug the pitch up and now use a drop in wicket. I have no idea how it's going to play, total unknown for me. Usually drop ins are low and slow, like the England wickets of last series, I hope this isn't the case.

It's a pretty crap sledge as far as they go, won't top "every time I shag your missus she feeds me a biscuit" or "wife's fine, the kids are retarded".

Or this one, an old favourite, RIP the great man:

Malcolm Marshall is regarded by many as the scariest West Indies quick of the 1980's, and that's saying a lot given the plethora of towering fast bowlers the Caribbean cricketers had at their disposal. After playing and missing Marshall one too many times, David Boon on debut was on the receiving end of some lip with Marshall well and truly fired up. The bowler with 374 Test wickets to his name, asked the stocky Tasmanian:

"Now David, are you going to get out now or am I going to have to bowl around the wicket and kill you?"

See, that is a similar sort of comment to Clarke's, but because of who says it and the quality of the guy facing him, it's not as serious.

Hopefully Trott will be able to recover and play again. Horrible shades of Marcus Trescothick in 2006/7 Ashes here. Hopefully the series ends on a better score this time

TJ, as you didn't watch it, with the greatest of respect... :) Johnson bowled well, Harris bowled better.

Johnson has mentally scarred Trott, trust me. Like a boxer hit in the ring, his eyes have gone vacant. Never seen Trott's face like that before.
Think we've found out the answer to this mystery anyway, sad news, hopefully trot can bounce back

nothing against sledging really. Just the circumstances that make clarke look a bell-end , the fact he has a) been losing games constantly against said opposition for a few years now and b) has been struggling with the short ball himself,

makes him look like an idiot really. Not too bothered by what he said even if it was distasteful, it's just the fact he's hardly one to talk is he. Then there's also the fact he described it as banter, if you're going to say stuff like that, at least act like a billy big bollocks and admit it truthfully, don't go back into your shell in front of the cameras.
