The Clear-out

Do we still do the 5 year contracts we always used to do? Be very gun shy doing that too often now.
The trouble is that if we spend a lot of money on a youngster and they do really well , you don't want them to get itchy feet with only 12 months left on a 3 year contract .
In a strange parallel universe there's Iwobi who's joined Everton and has 29 goals and 35 assists . Imagine if he only signed for 3 years and after 2 Barcelona came knocking and he wants to go knowing he's can go on the cheap or for free if he waited . Don't laugh .
5 year deals shouldn't be given to anyone over 28 though .

Some of you guys are going to be seriously underwhelmed when there is no clear out

Who are we expecting to buy all these players ? Any clubs interested are going to be a level below us so would pay lower wages... which means players are less likely to want to leave.

Bernard, Kean, Walcott (gone), Kenny, Besic, Bolasie, King, Delph will (hopefully) be gone or at least off the books (loans). So that 7 players gone.

Leaves us with around 19 senior players. We need a 25 man squad.

I think we'll listen to offers for Gomes, Iwobi, Holgate, Davies. If not they're squad players.

We should be getting in a minimum of 4 players. With Bernard and Walcott off the books wage wise, arguably £40-50mill for Kean, a net spend of a £100mill isn't out of the realms of possibility.

Don't care. Next season is the last chance saloon for me. Otherwise I'll find some other form of torture to get me through the week.
Funny but true. I die a thousand deaths whenever that shower are playing. The sad fact is that I'll go to my grave with them tormenting me.

Allan is in my midtable of my Everton league of rubbishness currently.

He deserves another season but he has done next to nothing so far. The only thing I can say about him from this season is that his hair grows back at an impressive rate.
He can pass forward, can tackle unlike Gomes and Sigi, wants the ball and hates losing

Allen has been extremely disappointing for me. He's not a defensive midfielder because he has no discipline and is unable to protect the defence. He's not an attacking midfielder because he isn't a good passer, he doesn't create chances and he doesnt score goals.

I'm not really sure what his role is, but I dont think he's been good this season. I watch games where people say he's been great and I'm baffled. I see a player who has absolutely no discipline and is always out of position.
He one of the best passer in the team and can pass forward with good acc

I think many of us had been hoping that once our injury crisis had ended this season, we'd see far better football and attitude on the pitch. Sadly, once our supposed best players came back, we didn't improve even slightly. I know we all have different opinions of what players constitute our deadwood, but I think we will sadly be in for a rude awakening next season as many of our better players are found out for not being at the level we thought they were.

Take Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin for example. I'd love to know how many times one of them passes to the other in a game. There is absolutely zero understanding between them at all, which begs the question should we continue to shoehorn them both into the same side and hope for a dramatic improvement, or try and be proactive and let one of them go and find a more suitable partner for the one that stays?

Of course my preference would be to run the likes of Iwobi and Gomes out of the door all day long before we considered such an option, but we will struggle mightily to sell those types of players whilst you'd imagine there would be quite a queue if we started enteraining offers for Richarlison.

Some very difficult problems facing Brands and Ancellotti this summer. We seem to say this every window with Brands but he really needs to be fast out the blocks this time. We need a massive turnaround of players and he needs to give himself the entire window to do that in, not just the last 3 weeks.

Starting quality worth keeping: James, DCL, Allan, Doucoure, Digne, Godfrey, Pickford, Richarlison, Mina.

-Need a RB, CB, CM and Winger

Squad quality worth keeping: Davies, Coleman, Niels, Branthwaite, Gbamin

Actively try to move: Bernard, Iwobi, Delph, Gomes, Holgate, Keane, Tosun, Gylfi plus anyone else I missed. Depending on who stays:

-Need a GK, CB, ST, Winger, CM and RB

If we managed to do all those moves, that would leave us with:

13 XI quality players
11 squad quality players

Obviously that is not going to happen in one window. But that to me is the scale of the clean out. I'd prefer to focus on signing the 4/5 starting players in this window and focus on shifting squad players out, and recruiting replacements in the winter and next Summer.

You should watch his YouTube channel. Did make me laugh when he complains he's trained hard .
I just can't see what Brands saw in him . His Arsenal C.V was hardly shining . At least Siggy had a brilliant international and domestic record especially as they are both seen as average sides . Yes , that's the same Iceland side that made England look like yesterday's Everton team .
He was signed by Moshiri and his stats at Arsenal showed him to be the 4th best player in the league for creativity

Nothing will change lets be honest we'll continue letting Brands sign slow soft players and Carlo will continue to tinker and play about 50 formations next season.

We'll bottle every chance we get to achieve anything and finish 8th-12th.

Rinse and Repeat.

Ignoring all the dross that were either on loan or running their contracts down, I would shift on the folllowing;

Coleman
Mina
The Swedish goalie
Gomes
Bernard
Richarlison
Holgate
Davies
Delph
Iwobi

Some of those will be a bit controversial but needs must.

I’d also be tempted to remove big Dunc from the coaching staff.

Give him a role showing people round on the Goodison tours or something.

He has been a figure consistent in all of the most recent failed regimes.

We really do need to be shifting a lot of players this summer. There are very few players at Everton who can say they have earned a place on next seasons team, and less who can honestly say they are good enough to play in a side challenging for European football.
My one hope for this window is that we don’t do an Everton and run the clock down to the final couple of days and then panic. Get the business done quietly and quickly.
