The David Moyes debate

Woah .... easy ladz
Basically, until ( unless ? ) the finances are sorted out then we have two choices

1. Stick with Moyes, or a Moyes lookalike, and finish as high up the league as possible with the squad we have, but put with the fact that a dour manager is unlikely to win anything because he's playing the % game

OR

2. Go for a manager with more of a flair approach who will lose games in the league, finish at a lower position, never have a chance of qualifying for the Europa League via position but MIGHT have a better chance of winning a cup

So, basically, do you want the chance of Silverware ( without much of a financial reward ) or would you rather go for the highest possble league position and a more secure future.

... discuss, rationally ... if the egos in here are able to do so.

btw, in reality, there is no Option (3). Should I start a Graham Poll ?

*steps back and takes a drink.

So playing with more flair means losing more games? Intresting

Dear Damon,

Please explain how saying well done to David Moyes for some good team performances has any effect on my opinion of Martinez as a manager.

Oh wait, it has zero to do with anything. Hope you've got your travel down to Wembley sorted for the 5th. YNWA ?

Roberto Martinez still thinks Everton are part of the relegation battle.

Rubbish.

So lets get this straight. Martinez is now boss whilst he was rubbish a month ago.

And Moyes is now ****e and he was boss a week ago?

Kneejerking all over the shop there Brennan91.

Stop with the kopite crap and Damon stop winding it up- you know what you're doing.

I don't want to have to close this thread because there are some valid points from both sides of the fence.

I know Martinez won't have the success in the transfer market AT WIGAN. At Everton would be a completely different story.

Moyes doesn't go all over the world watching these transfers train every day, he relies on scouts just like many other managers. Common sense would tell you that Wigan's scouting network isn't as good as Everton's is, so judging Martinez in that way isn't really fair.

Having said that, Victor Moses, Gary Caldwell and Di Santo have all been great transfers for a total cost of £5m. He's no dummy when it comes to transfer spending.

Not these days. Moyes, despite being very adept in the transfer market was only allowed to bring in two speculative loan signings and was forced to sell Arteta et al and got none of the money. Only after selling two strikers, the creative midfielder at the club another squad player and ANOTHER striker was he able to spend a few mill on Jelavic. And what do you know! Another belter of a signing. Donovan, great signing, Gibson - 250k up front and is now nailed in our first XI and Pienaar. Brilliant business. I don't want to sound like I'm kissing ass here but he's like a bloody contortionist: We were on our knees in january, backed right into a corner and those four signings are pretty much solely the reason we've turned it around and now were are 7th and played in a semi final.

You mentioned what Martinez best business with £5m was, well this is just one of many of Moyes'.

Right , could someone give me a quick summary.......

Dave Moyles throws babies up in the air and bayonets them - some say it's a good thing; others say it's unacceptable...a few pie charts later and I'm undecided....more as I get it......

Some Serious questions now-

1) For the money we've spent do you think we have a strong squad?

2) What league position does our squad warrant?

3) How many players are we missing to challenge the top 4?
