There's a fitting line in Hallelujah ...

This might be unimportant in terms of the real problems we're face with at the club at the moment, but it's getting on my nerves and I have to speak out.
Over the past 12 months or so the club have placed this song down the pecking order in favour of stuff like Forever Everton and that abomination Spirit of the Blues (which, IMO, only people who are impressed by cat memes can possibly like).
Grand Old Team should rightfully be restored to being played prior to Z-Cars and immediately after any win or good/unexpected draw against a top of the table challenging team.
The fact that no longer happens is another example of the trampling down of our culture by the clueless frauds who've cratered the club in the last 7 seasons.
Thoughts?
Pretty good thatManc song.
How about:
Things could be marvellous... soon
Oh, so this is the squad and this is the board.
These are the wages we can't afford.
Bill won't cut the cord.
Now, you'll never be sure if this is the time
We get relegated: the end of the line
Points deducted and fined
We used to be good but now we've forgotten.
Moshiri blew millions but we're still bottom
Bramley Moor Dock will not be completed on time
And you know I'm right
Well I never. I thought it came from Celtic but if it’s one of the Scotty rd bangers it’s alright by me.It is. It's an original song to this city that was adapted from school songs. St Anthony's and other school teams had it as their anthem in the 1940s and 1950s. It was in this book:
Evertons the team that plays beautiful football. When was that, must have missed it.Detest Spirit of the blues. Awful footy tune and a little embarrassing.
Grand old team and forever Everton are the tunes.
Hello, by Lionel Richie, ringing round an emptyish stadium around 1.30 as I sit with my Higsons and Sayers Sausage Roll, can almost taste em, happy daysBring back Heartbreaker by Dionne Warwick at Goodison like we had circa Nov/Dec 1983 and let the good times roll again
Everything changes though Davek, when I was a sprog our song was we shall not be moved and banks or the royal blue mersey ( which remains my fave song)It was ok for a spell the season before last when we were facing the chop in that run in with Burnley.
IMO it's outstayed its welcome and at the expense of a banger like GOT.
That's a great Everton song.Everything changes though Davek, when I was a sprog our song was we shall not be moved and banks or the royal blue mersey ( which remains my fave song)
It was, but can we now sing in it - " like a team thats going to win the FA CUP" ?That's a great Everton song.
