The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I tried it on a friend of mine's PC. It's great how you can do pretty much whatever you want, but still have a main quest-mission-whatever (as I understand?).

My first endeavour was killing a chicken and after that getting in a fight with a cow, and got thrown out of the village.
Some time later - get to take a bandit (I think) to the woods to execute him. I did so, but the townfolk started to hate and chase me down.

Amazing game anyway. You can even make it a bit silly for yourself!

This game literally sucks hours from your day. You look up and three hours have gone by and you don't know how.

And it never feels like you've even made a dent into the game.

It's an amazing game, but if you're really, really used to games that hold your hand and lead you from objective to objective then you'll give up on Skyrim inside 10 minutes as it literally let's you do anything you want after the introduction where you escape from prison.

For example, I ran down to the nearest village, picked up a quest, decided to go exploring, ran into a level 30 giant whilst I was level 2 and got one shotted, because there's no mechanisms in place to stop you running into NPCs massively stronger than you are.

My one gripe with the game thus far (and it's a minor one) is the quest direction system, which is very vague. Sometimes you have no idea where to go. It requires some guesswork to hand quests in at times as every bugger walks around all the time, so you have to go finding them.

Everything else is exquisite. It's one of the finest gaming experiences ever created, and I'll be playing this five years from now in all likelihood and still be finding new things to do.

I did EXACTLY the same thing!!! Riverwood! I decided to test my bow and arrow on a chicken, and six people slaughtered me for it!

There are a couple of things to help you out there. Hit the escape button, click quests then select the quest to make it the active one. A waypoint maker is added to the map showing you where you need to be. You can also learn the clairvoyance spell (but this way is a bit of a cheat, it actually shows you where to go)

Brave Companions?

Or start if playing on xbox.

Dylan, are you in the Companions?

I know, mate. Acquiring Goliyre Tithryon's Flame Orb from Dengu the Unworthy is INFURIATING. You'll need to first dispell his augmented Oreyen Helm with either a Strong Potion of Thwarting (combine scrib jelly, daedra heart, luminous russula and void salts- NOTE: you'll need both an alembic and a calcinator for this alchemical process) or an arcane spell of mysticism. That is unless you boast Cosadian mail and wield the flambard of fell deeds, of course.
