The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

It seems on this forum Kenwright is the devil incarnate and when he is gone and we have new owners we will be heading for some utopian future, well I hope so too, but don't for one minute believe it.
When Blue Union have this meeting as is there right and I have no doubt they are brilliant Evertonians , I just hope they don't just rip Kenwright apart ,they come up with a plan forward ,as long as this plan doesn't involve an Arab billionaire that doesn't exist.

I think people are realistic enough not to expect or demand an Arab billionaire. As has been said, we need a regime capable of maximising the commercial performance of the club, and one with an actual plan in terms of ground development or a new stadium.
To get to this point the current board need to do more to attract the correct investors to the club. BK has contradicted himself on many occasions as for how long the club has been up for sale for - and this has just added fuel to the fire that the club has never actually been for sale at all.
It's absolutely imperative that the board feels pressure from the fans to deliver.

They did. They said an independant group of professionals to oversee finding people interested in the club and discussing the sale of the club with the current board.

Elstone said they wouldnt do it that way (and besides he reckoned he would be replaced - not wrong there) and the worlds greatest Evertonian also said he was the clubs best salesman.

Two years on and what have we got. Feck all and another stadium site handed to them on a plate is about to disappear into the ether.

Whats the background of the senior management?

Do they have a track record of success in their former roles?

Why the word of warning about future owners that don't yet exist and the dismissal of billionaire buyers when no one is demanding a billionaire? It's all very cliched. Why not throw in a "careful what you wish for" or a "we don't want to do a Portsmouth / Blackburn / Leeds" for good measure

The thing is, I don't think people despise Kenwright as much as you would like to make out. The fact is, more and more people are beginning to hold him and this board to account. And why shouldn't we hold him to account? Just how many more trophyless years do we have to endure? How many more failed stadium projects do we have to go through? This inertia can't go on forever so why shouldn't we be demanding more from Kenwright & co.

I am curious why you seem to expect the BU to come up with a plan going forward. Surely that is what Robert Elstone is reportedly paid £350k a year to do?

I actually wonder if the club has ever been genuinely put up for sale, we have only the word of discredited individuals for this.

Exactly I would say that, as would the supporters of all those clubs!!
I don't think Kenwright is despised once you leave this forum, as I would always say if we could get investment I would love to see them at our club, I just don't think its out there, as for expecting Blue Union to come up with an idea, if they don't what is there role to just scream from the sidelines?

Do the people who defend Kenwright and warn of Portsmouth, Blackburn or Leeds, not see the irony of their warnings. The reason those clubs failed is because their previous owners sold for maximum profit will little regard to the suitability of the new owners to run the football club.

What exactly do you think the strategy is for Earl/Green? Do you really think that they invested in Everton for the love of the club? Hardly. They could see the tsunami of money that was about to wash over football and bought their shares for a song. At the minute, we've got a board of millionaires sitting tight and waiting for the maximum profit whilst the club stagnates. Make no mistake, when these bar stewards believe the Premier League gravy train has reached its maximum growth potential (record TV deal or not, there's more £££'s to be squeezed out yet) they will sell up to absolutely anybody willing to pay top dollar, regardless of whether they are a Venky's or similar.

And when it all goes tits up, the idiots can say "we told you a takeover would be a disaster"
