The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

'an aquaintance'? The Peoples Forum? Thats a bit like third hand information isn't it, or Chinese(!) whispers, even. The confirmation of direct evidence for those with an agenda. 'a friend of a friend of a friend' Ha Ha !!
City were in a mess Siniwatra could not get funds together to keep his promises...in fact he never ever paid any money to City to buy the club...his assets/money was then frozen. Another director paid all the salaries for at least two months. Siniwatra approached the sheiks, who were friends /acquaintances/business colleagues of his, because they were looking for a Premier League club with potential both as a club, and with a surrounding area with development possibilities. Deal was then done very quickly, because Siniwatra and City needed it done quickly. Source..directly to me by a media person closely connected with City hierarch at a charity event.

'a friend of a friend of a friend' :)

So is that your double dutch way of saying you don't know the names, only that 'The Blue Union will employ professionals' Presumably the Blue Union will pay the fees to these professionals they employ?

I will repeat for you again. The BU has NEVER said they will employ professionals to sell the club for people who very evidently dont want to sell.

'a friend of a friend of a friend' :)

;) No, the actual person involved, but I can't quote the name, it was a confidence. In any case the story is common knowledge now. Somewhere in the dark recesses of my memory I have the name also, of the City director involved, and I'm quite prepared to quote that name...I'll ring a contact(!) for a reminder. Magic, you should remember that this is basically a re run of some of my comments on Blue K a while back.

1 - they have said from the outset they want professional people who sell sports clubs for a living.

2 - the board say they will do it for themselves but given that thats been going on since 1999 then there isnt much hope of it happening. Pointers say the club isnt for sale despite what they say.

...and below........do both of your comments refer to the Blue Union ?

Perhaps it is not surprising given the importance that history has to Evertonians, but the key problem for me in all of this is that the focus of protesting fans is almost entirely on the past. There's little or no consideration to the future other than the removal of the current owners. However even that seems like little more than a vague hope as there is no evidence of a worthwhile strategy to create change.

Staveley was fronting the Qatar Investment Authority interest in Everton. Again though, this actually never happened, and Grant Thornton were not the firm that completed due diligence.

For me though you look at the past and the immediate realisation is that this board needs to go. Vague hope maybe but necessary.

We probably disagree less than you think, however before change you have to know what comes afterwards, and that's what is missing...

There's got to be something in it for them to be just leeching without any attempt to grow the business or even bother attempting proper commercial activity over 15 years.

They need spotlight on them and heavy pressure from the fanbase to relinquish whatever they are doing annually and moderate their asking price for the final payday sell off.

You're totally correct in terms of commercial performance (and many other things...) - it then becomes a question of how you bring change about. It's my belief that this Board is immune to "fan pressure", (i) because they have complete control of the club and (ii) they know that the vast majority of Blues will carry on supporting the club regardless of the Board and view protesters as disruptive.

Therefore just being a protest group (however noble) will not bring about the change the protest group and more moderate fans desire...
