The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

Is there supposed to be a lack of funds this summer? How do people know this? Every summer we play it shrewd...there may well not be a lot of difference this year, and I expect Martinez to get players in that he wants, and can use to advantage. Its not having money in the bank that counts, its how you spend it. Just ask Spurs (another club with a negative net spend over the last five years....). Why people genuflect before the altar of 'net spend' I don't know..its whats on the pitch that matters, and last season we were 5th and Spurs 6th. With a little tweaking, a scoring striker, and midfield cover, we can push for the top four.

Net spend is shorthand for investment in the club.

Spurs have a negative net spend because they sold Bale for £80 million. We have a negative net spend without any sale even half as large. You well know that I'm not one to blindly bang on the board out drum, but let's not pretend like we get investment from them.

And I'd be fine not getting investment from them, if they showed the ability to create enough revenue to purchase players and push the club forward without relying so heavily on television money. Things are working out today, and while there can be complaints (no new stadium, not winning pots, etc.) most people understand that we're up against teams that we legitimately cannot financially compete with. What worries me, and I'm sure a number of other people, is that our source of income is so directly tied to the television deals that we are in a precarious position. A few poor years and we could be in a terrible state.

The club needs to figure out a method to regularly inject more money into the playing squad, whether its direct investment from the board or improved turnover from better business deals. Otherwise I fear we are playing on borrowed time, lucky to have had two very good managers for us at their respective points in time.

Yep our managers have necessarily played it shrewd every summer for 14 years. Meanwhile we are outspent by tiny tosspot clubs aplenty. Good try Steven but no biscuit.

You know, there are so many things to best the club over the head with, but right now they should be beaten with the accusation stick for not really capitalizing on Howard's World Cup form. They've done nothing with that at all.[/QUOTE just like we did with Le Tie, apparently as popular in China as Beckham was here , what did we do to capitalise on this? Yea you guessed it , Nothing no tour Nothing !!!! We should have a huge percentage of Chinese walking around in everton shirts etc now, as all other clubs would have taken full advantage of this, but as we know. We aren't "other clubs"!

Yeah. That's pretty terrible. But it's pretty par for the course. It's like they don't understand that you can grow a fanbase using something other than procreation.

Shrewd out of neccessity. I suspect we will spend 'more than usual' this summer, but not the fantastical amounts that people are bandying about on here. And its Stephen, with a ph. Cheers. ;)

Nothing wrong with the gist of your posting. I think the majority of clubs are reliant on TV money, and the board are well aware that there is a need to improve other income streams, or create new ones. But 'net transfer spend' alone is certainly not shorthand for investment. There are other ways that investment can be made....training facilities, youth development, a new stadium ,etc. While Spurs got £80k for Bale, and mostly spent it badly, we got £30k approx for Rooney, and £27k for Fellaini, plus a chunk of money for Lescott, and for the most part spent it well. It remains to be seen if the RS spend the Suarez money well, up to now it looks 50-50. What really is short sighted of some people is to suggest that somehow loads of income from Everton is finishing up in the back pockets of the three main directors. None of the Everton directors are in the mega millionaire or billionaire class, and accordingly loans to the club from them would be unlikely.

Wages? Oh yea forgot how huge our wage bill is, and no other club has wages to pay, thus even the likes of Norwich and Cardiff spent approx 30m each last summer alone ! Before this fraud took charge efc was classed in the same bracket as your arsenals, utds, and that shower across the park, and now we are "plucky little Everton",and we are being dragged even further down on a daily basis , and we say n do very little if nothing about it , because he's an evertonian ( Lol), if he was an American or something he would have been rail roaded out if Goodison years ago !!!!
Our wages as a % of turnover was 73% in 2012-2013, highest of any of the top 7 bar Manchester City. The only other one above 65% was Chelsea.

Its all a big joke really. People who try and back this board an that c**t Kenwright arnt Evertonians in my eyes an just on a wind up.

No one in sound mind can look at the figures and think its ok whats going on around the club.

But once again we'll have a [Poor language removed] summer and people will defend Bill an his cronies.

And people think it's a good summer as long as we keep players......hahahaha tiny club mentality that

£30k only for Rooney?!?!?! No wonder we only bought Bent and Cahill ffs

Li Tie, was an even better example of how useless these people are of pushing us commercially forward. When he played for us, he was the Chinese captain and had an equivelant following in China that Beckham had here , what did we do to capitalise on this? Nothing , no tour Nothing !!

Nobody is taking about loans.

Straight up pocketing the money tho, where did the Arteta money go?

someone just said swansea have a net spend of £53M over the last 5 seasons lol

this is why we get annoyed. We as fans simply do not understand how a club of our size and where we finish in the league can have so little money every single season and all the board do is hide it in operating costs.

Kenwright hasnt put his own money into a signing since Yobo

Swansea have spent 49.8m on players in the last 5 seasons, a net spend of 20m.
Everton have spent 50m on players, a net spend of MINUS 32m.
