The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

Did you see the letter of complaint about fat head in your bible The Stage this week?

Looks like he's upsetting his fellow luvvies.

Its business. If people won't pay the rights owner, who has paid and bought the rights, they are not allowed to perform the creative work professionally. Bill continually 'upsets' people in his business...but he keeps theatres open and performers in work, theatres which would otherwise be closed, and performers who would otherwise be redundant. Didn't know you read 'The Stage'. I don't. So youre a 'luvvie' then. I'm astounded. I always had you down as an undercover reporter for the Sun, or Hollywood Confidential. Theres a couple of pantos to be cast....shall I put your name down for Bessie Bitter, the Palace cook?

I read The Stage like I read the Norwich & District Worzel Gazette. It came up in a general sweep of the web for all things fathead related.

Still, and back to the point, I suppose what you're saying here is that, just like with Everton shareholding, he has the right to monopolise and slam the door shut in dedicated people's faces who might "want in".

So you admit its your lifes mission to dig up dirt on Bill Kenwright. What a shameful admission to make. Most of us have better things to do, or are at least obsessed by something worthwhile, like betting on the horses or sex. By the way..was there anything about Bill in the Norwich and District Worsel Gazette? There are a couple of decent performance areas in Norwich, one of which he probably kept open. I know another theatre in the south, threatened with closure, has been kept open by a subsidy from Bill Kenwright. Don't suppose that information is worth putting in your seedy, shameful, obsessive, dirty little filing cabinet is it?

At the end of the day it is choice along with the other shareholders, whats wrong with that. It is called freedom you know of choice, speech etc unlike in Russia who have just brought state controls on social networking sites, but that is an aside.

If you owned Everton FC, would you want to share it with some one who be just after what they can get out, like the Glazers, the duo who owned Liverpool and now Ayre. There are other examples of course around and I am sure you will be aware of them

I don't think it's luck, mate.

I think it's perception. They think they're a big club, and they moan when they're not included in the list and they constantly act like you'd expect a big club that's down on its luck to act. Hence they're perceived as a big club.

United and Liverpool have been big since the 60's. United have been England's team since Munich. And Shankly really did do a damn fine job branding the filth. Following Shankly with winning everything in sight just solidified the work he did.

No brand is unassailable of course. Precisely why massive Everton of the 1980's are now plucky little Everton of the 2010's. United will have a long, long way to fall though, and they have enough money to stop the descent, but that may still not be enough. Liverpool have already lost a huge amount of their brand power. No one except mutants believes they belong in the discussion with Barca, Bayern, Real, and United. They definitely would have 20 years ago though.

I personally believe Chelsea and City are setting themselves up for long term success. It takes time to build a brand. It takes time to burn yourself into the public's mind. They will do it if the money keeps flowing, then the brand will keep them there. If the money spigot is shut off too soon, they may well fall away as (Chelsea) is building almost exclusively through success on the pitch. City are a more interesting outfit though. They're expanding across the globe, with NYCFC and Melbourne(?). They keep ticket prices low to keep fans happy, and they are really working the commercial aspect of their club.

City, I think, are the first English club that are devoting just as many resources to 'Manchester City' as they are to MCFC. They see it as a business and are treating it as such. Their success will depend on time as well, but I suspect it will be a very long lasting success if they pull it off...like the New York Yankees or LA Lakers. It's more about the logo than the team.

Arsenal keep on keeping on. I think a lot of their brand is built on Wenger and CL. When he goes, or/when they stop being automatic CL qualifiers it will be interesting to see the fallout.

Fair points all. When I type brand, I really mean international brand. The international market is much larger and more open to new entrants than the UK market. Very few Americans were watching any of these teams prior to 1980, and that's true all over the world. You can ignore the history of each club, but for many potential supporters, the conversation is relatively open.

Poppycock.

The premier league has been on TV in many Asian countries for over a decade.

Have you ever been to Asia? I find it comical that such a comment would offend you when most football fans out here freely admit they are glory supporters (except the RS fake fans). Thats such an obtuse comment it really is quite funny really. If you actively researched supporters clubs in the region I highly doubt staging a game would even cover the costs -- look at Thailand with chang how much is thst generating? If there was interest then another sponsor would see the value and pay FAR more for sponsorship.

Even a simple youth setup like milan and barca have done out here -- there is NO market for it.

I have first hand knowledge of the above.

As for the US, I'd guess you're American and so clearly biased whereas I hold a neutral and informed viewpoint.

You need something to market and thats clearly not going to be the situation without champions league.

EDIT -- your second paragraph is simply a LIE. Historically, what in the 1950s ?!

Madness.
I'll eventually reply to this in full. In the meantime - the fact that I am American, am friends with Americans and have lived in America for 30 years makes you more informed in the American market?

Lol.

Clearly not. It doesnt give you an impartial view. I have an informed view as I have experience in this field not only personal but in business too.

Also as you're clearly wrong and telling fibs I'm negging you again.

@Zatara please lid just do what everyone else does and type your text UNDER the quote you're responding to. It's burning my head out having to read down and then up.

This is your final warning and failure to comply will result in shelling of your territory.
