The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

Frankly this is untrue and a little offensive. The Yanks and asians are not a monolith, but rather they are individual people with their own motivations for support. Plenty of them would support Everton given a little push.

Historically they've supported successful teams because those were the only teams on tv in those area. That obstacle is now cleared.

If you see it often enough, you will love it or hate it. Both increase brand awarenes. It's only easy to ignore the teams that aren't on TV.

Poppycock.

The premier league has been on TV in many Asian countries for over a decade.

Have you ever been to Asia? I find it comical that such a comment would offend you when most football fans out here freely admit they are glory supporters (except the RS fake fans). Thats such an obtuse comment it really is quite funny really. If you actively researched supporters clubs in the region I highly doubt staging a game would even cover the costs -- look at Thailand with chang how much is thst generating? If there was interest then another sponsor would see the value and pay FAR more for sponsorship.

Even a simple youth setup like milan and barca have done out here -- there is NO market for it.

I have first hand knowledge of the above.

As for the US, I'd guess you're American and so clearly biased whereas I hold a neutral and informed viewpoint.

You need something to market and thats clearly not going to be the situation without champions league.

EDIT -- your second paragraph is simply a LIE. Historically, what in the 1950s ?!

Madness.

Haha. Neutral and informed.

Read my post again...I said I was writing to him with a creative suggestion. I didn't say I was 'embarking on a business venture with him' I've never denied that I work in the entertainment business, but neither have I ever said that I know BK personally. Youre making it up...probably out of desperation because the guy you trawl the internet trying to dig dirt on because of your seedy obsession is actually getting some credit points on here. Surely you don't think that the thousands of people working in the entertainment industry in this country are all colleagues of Bill Kenwright?
Are you the fella who plays ken Barlow ?

Our problem is money. It's obvious really. We don't make enough of it, so it's difficult making sure to control our spending of it.

Just look at the 2012/13 season. Our turnover was £86m. That is all income in. That is less than the wage bill of six other clubs.

The thing that keeps us competitive is canny buying and selling. Recently we haven't had too many busts, so we've managed to slowly improve the squad.

Unfortunately it's a fact of life that money from Arteta went to wages, loans and the bank. We had to save last years Fellaini etc money to spend this year.

What can we do? Getting in an owner that can invest. You can argue how hard the board is trying with this, but there are only so many billionaire football fans out there.

A stadium to get more gate money. Going to cost a bomb, and increase debt, so it's hard to do without effecting the money we can spend. Arsenal fans were complaining their new stadium was limiting their transfer activity, so if we do it wrong think how bad it could be for us. Needed though, let's hope there's finally some news.

More canny buying, and yes selling. But we're doing that already. Having a good young squad helps with wages, but they'll want paying eventually, and then at least you can cash in.

I think on the whole we're doing well given our lack of funds. There is a discussion to be had how we approach improving the situation, but as a wise man once said: ALWNV.

oh, Rog Bennett of Men In Blazers. yeah, i didn't initiate anything, but someone got the ball rolling on twitter and i sort of dogpiled on.

he was working on a doc of the USMNT prior to the world cup at the time, but loved the idea of an Everton doc. he may or may not be responsible for Tim Howard's gushing praise of Everton making it through editing.

Love how now that we've spent a bit of money accumulated from player sales the board is great again. It's like praising a teenager for wiping his own arse properly.

We have never had wages exceed turnover. Therefore its not quite right to say the Arteta money was used on wages.

I assert it was all about FFP.

I did a whole analysis of Everton spending in the last 5 years. Including Lukaku.
- £0.8million net.

We have a four year pattern of spending.

I think lukaku has proved that money doesn't just disappear at the club. But the real changer has been the change of manager and the BT money.

We will earn over £120million this year. Wages are being pressured down by a salary increase restriction on tv money.

The stadium is key for us.

If we add on 15000 to capacity we earn another 18million a season minimum, more with more hospitality and corporate. On premier league games alone.

Thats close if the rumours are true.

I'd be concerned if the club only build 50k with no plan to easily increase to 60k

That puts the viability of a stadium move in difficulty. That extra 5000 or 10000 helps pay for the whole thing.

FFP will increase the chance we get "investment". But it will be the right kind true to the word. It will focus on the stadium this investment where there are no restrictions. It will finally allow us to compete financially.

We just need to do it big enough. 50k isnt quite big enough. 55k is minimum

You specifically said Bill is screwing women left right and centre. You therefore either know Bill or the women ?

Oh dear Mr Elephant. More desperation. Go back. Read again. Admit to yourself how wrong you are. I said Bill seems to be able to pick good looking women, or something like that, but you agenda driven spin machine, the one implanted in your brain, gets it wrong as usual. The current 'good news' from Everton is really laying bare the agenda driven falsehoods from which the 'anti BK platoon ' (The completely Expendables) derive their limited energy. If Dave doesn't get the part as Bessie Bitter The Palace Cook, maybe you could join with him in Cinderella, as the Bitter Sisters ?
