The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

Why is everything to the extremes?

The board do some things well. They give the manager time, and seem to, at least, let the manager handle things on the pitch. Kenwright also seems skilled at getting the most we can from sales (excepting Rooney, and arguably Arteta). They have also prevented us from doing a Leeds or Pompey. These are good things! And now they're giving Martinez the money he made from sales and maybe a little bit on top.

They also do some things poorly. They still seem to foster an incompetent marketing department for one. They also still have not sorted out a new stadium for us, not have they put their hands in their own pockets to invest in the club. Our business deals are catastrophic (kitbag is one of the worst commercial deals I've ever heard of).

They are neither evil or malicious. They have some clear areas that require improvement. It is not in anyone's interest but theirs to fail to give them inerest for the things they do well, nor is it in anyone's credit to fail to note their weaknesses.

I am happy so far with the window. That is entirely separate from the fact I am not happy with movement on a stadium, the lack of targeted overseas marketing, the heinous kitbag deal, or the objectively subpar Chang deal.

Quite possibly the best post we will ever see on a board related thread. Extremists: read, digest and be humble.

We should be Australia's, America's and South Africa's favourite club. We have the best players of their generations from these countries (Harry Kewell can do one) yet where is our commercial presence. We can't even get kits up to JLA to sell.

No one thinks our board needs to spend money they haven't got or take on lots of debt to fund player transfers. But it would be nice to be run like a 21st century club rather than a 19th one.
I agree. I walk into Rebel Sports here in Melbourne, Australia and I see "EPL Shirts" of Man Utd and Man City, Chelsea, Redshite, Arsenal, Spurs but no Everton. Even when Cahill was doing his thing. Disappointing...

Would love to see you go in to work tomorrow and tell your boss to eff off.

See who's a sycophant then.
You're right, I'm a total hypocrite.

Just on the blower to North West Tonight now. Going to tell them that I feel my boss deserves more credit than he gets for doing the bare minimum expected of him.

They don't seem very interested.

That will be because your boss probably doesn't run a major football club with most of the time limited resources, and with many tens of thousands fans around the world, some of which spend every waking hour looking for something however minor, insignificant, or even untrue to use as a stick to beat him with.

Give it a rest Steve. We know you like Bill and are his protector but can you enlighten us with these so called untruths but while your at it please enlighten us on his merits and what he has done to enhance or take the club further forward in his capacity as a chairman. The merits of Moyes and Martinez and there players are not included in Bills merits. Finally do you think he is a good chairman or a bad chairman or even inbetween.

PS. Will you have the proof to substantiate your claims.

Oh come on ! You only have to read this thread, the transfer thread, and one or two others. There is a minority(small...and getting smaller)who have have struggled desperately to keep their anti BK/Everton/the board agenda afloat and only yesterday mods stepped in because unfounded accusations were posted. I don't know Bill well enough to like or dislike him, but Everton do seem to usually have the ability to improve the quality of the playing staff, even with recently limited resources, and our financial arrangements were stabilising even before the new TV money started to flow. Do I think he's a good chairman or a bad chairman? If it makes you happy, thats an easy one to answer...he's 'in between' like the majority of chairmen...the bad eggs become obvious very quickly and never last long. As I've said before, at great length, Bills main weakness is his application of successful show business business methods to the running of a football club. Theatre and football are surprisingly miles apart as business models, but Bill treats Everton as if its another show...., because thats the business he knows and is successful in. Its possible that we might also have to thank Martinez for changing Bills attitude, not an easy thing to do, just ask almost anyone on the business side of entertainment.

Ha Ha.

Roberto, you've been here at 'dee fudball clab' for five minutes lad. Just take your pay rise and do your job. Leave the politics out of it. That's what did for Moyes in the end.
Done what for Moyes ? He left us for one of the biggest clubs in the world, where he failed.
Just because Roberto has a different opinion of Bill Kenwright than yours, doesn't make it wrong when he makes that opinion public.
Why shouldn't he make his opinions known, because it may upset a tiny minority of Evertonians who post on here ?

You tell us often enough that the group of evil stick gatherers is small and getting smaller, so what exactly is Martinez reacting to here?

Maybe the manager has been reading GOT and is dismayed by the mean things DaveK says.

If that's the case, I look forward to him taking a moment during the Friday press conference to make a statement about the doubts surrounding our glorious leader's sexual prowess.

Time to dust down the clown costume and organise a march, demanding Roberto rescinds his comments on our chairman ?
Roberto's entitled to his opinions just as you lot are, believe it or not.

Best window since the arrival of this current board for the ever growing Everton brand. And if we're only growing slowly because of our board, at least we are growing.
That alone puts our Bill above a very large amount of owners out there, and below only a handful of other boards that are of a better quality.

I am an advocate of your Bill bashing Dave, as you know, but I dont feel you can be annoyed with RM for answering a question with his opinion. After all, whether you believe he is privy to all the financial facts of the last 10 years or not, its highly likely that he is privy to more information than you or I.

After all, its doubtful of course, a chat with BK personally with supporting evidence to show he isnt as corrupt as you believe may even persuade you that its not all his fault after all.

I dunno, just think everyones entitled to their opinion - its what makes things so interesting!
