personally do not believe that the board will or indeed can take us any further, and agree with the esk that capital needs to be raised, but given that neither Messrs Kenwright or Woods have the wherewithal and Mr Earl is not inclined to invest further, then a rights issue of shares is off the table, so we are back to a take-over

A fair conclusion but frankly one that has been obvious for a decade. And was made crystal clear when Billy Liar was unable to come up with any money whatsoever for the Deal of the Century, Kings Dock.

Regarding the 'Other Operating Expenses', that surely conceals a mumber of dodgy expenses but when Elstone was pressed on a clarification a few years ago he bluffed his way out and did not respond clearly. What a surprise.

After the Kings Dock fiasco I took a passing interest in the club's accounts but it wears you down because nothing substantial happens. The club remains undercapitalized and needs investment which Billy Liar and mates are unable/refuses to provide.

Therefore the only faintly interesting news- the marketing mess is a given - is how the club has been financed at the margin and the names of the offshore providers. You can look for a smoking gun there but I doubt there is one.

I know that Bill might still surprise us today by signing a top no.10 but even so I am thinking of contributing to the Helicopter Man with his suggestion for Bill to go and do one.

Auditors don't need that kind of evidence. It works the other way--they require proper evidence to complete their report and make the appropriate notes when the supplied evidence is incomplete.
Are you saying auditors would require proper evidence of who owns a BVI company making loans to the company they're auditing (without there being something substantial to kick that enquiry off) ?

I'm saying they wouldn't and if so the suggestion that if there were (allegedly) unethical dealings at the club it would require complicity by the auditors is incorrect.

I'm treating all this with a healthy dose of scepticism.

I'm not saying all is perfect, but it's very easy to put 2 and 2 together and get whatever answer you want.

We know some evidence of accounts has been dug up, but how do we know we are getting the full picture from this?

Edit- in short, if we don't believe most Twitter accounts, why are we putting 100% faith in this one?

Well, (1) RE = VIBRAC is speculation, not proved. If proved, serious problem perhaps, since he should report all related-party transactions. Nobody seems to be complaining that Abramovich or Lerner are financing their own clubs, so I suppose that's not your complaint either.
(2) Arteta money spent on interest payments for financing? That's news to me, I thought it always was obfuscated through OOCs. Even if the VIBRAC loan was £15m at 10% interest, it would take nearly 7 years to siphon away the Arteta money through interest payments. This would be a terribly inefficient fraud scheme (maybe why it's such a perfect plan... ? *No)
(3) Everton need the bridging loans because the board have no cash balance in the accounts (having purchased a bankrupt club) and have not found the commercial wherewithal to create this cash balance (unless players are sold to balance the books, which has been the board's MO).

Seems like all your questions are answered?

Aye - well constructed response mate...However the truth will out. And as Esk said earlier in the thread. The blame for our financial and commercial ineptitude rests solely with our current board.

What really sickens me is the cynical bid for Yarmolenko knowing we most likely wouldn't get him just because the plane was flying overhead.

I hope when results don't go well the anger is turned towards the board and not the team and manager. Martinez could have managed the budget better but he shouldn't have had to.

Reckon because of the obfuscation from the board in the past over these, then, rumours, and now documents show these 'rumours' to have grounding, it gives credibility. If all this is in the public domain why not point enquirers in their direction?yBe more up front about them?
Not the Evetton way. Instead the board further muddy the waters and create the suspicious atmosphere that further fuels mistrust.

A lot are thinking these documents are the smoking gun, either way, they point right back to a board wholly unwilling to be transparent, upfront and honest, the lack of trust plus lack of business credibility equals growing unrest and uncertainty.

I agree the board should be more transparent, I'm just wary of believing everything a Twitter account under a pseudonym says.

It's not like we haven't heard this song before. Remember when we were supposedly in for Negredo? That was never on, just a story out out to take the pressure off cos another deal (Fer was it?) had fallen through.

The worst part about that was at least I believed we were in for Fer. We weren't really in for Shaqiri. It was a loan deal and probably taken from this forum like Yarmolenko. We literally didn't try and sign a No 10. The one player Martinez has been going on about and the one player we all knew we needed. It's not like performances on the pitch have changed. One good counter attacking display against a rubbish Southampton defense doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. No changes made against City and Spurs tell me nothing has changed. It's going to be a long long season.

I know we were in for Fer, I remember we had a few agreed and everything then bill tried to pay munsterman 2 of the 8m up front and the rest in instalments and promptly got told to do one.

Master negotiator are Bill

I'm mad with them all. Martinez and the board. But probably the board a little more. At least Martinez didn't let them sell Stones. We would have never seen all that money. We would have got Evans and that was it.
