Also, you'd be hard pressed to find an American sports stadium that wasn't taxpayer-funded (we're huge suckers when it comes to that), so I wouldn't exactly hold that against them.

Also, this. That's how it's done in the U.S. now. Once team owners realized they could strong-arm cities into giving them free money to help finance stadiums, the precedent was set for all future stadium deals. Now it's routine, even though it's ridiculous.

no

Man Utd
Sunderland
Liverpool ( hicks and Gillet)
Vietnam
Villa

Arsenal? They're ok like
Millwall hasn't done any worse with their owner, have they?
United is a canard--their recent success is all dependent on Ferguson
Liverpool's new ownership seems better than their prior owners
The guy who owns Roma is too new to judge

So it then Hicks, Lerner, and Short who are the bad American owners?

Short has invested alot of his own money into Sunderland, just his manager appointments/organisation of the club (DOF) has let them down.

What makes you think that? Moores held onto the Padres for 17 years, and only sold then because of his divorce. I don't see anything in his history to indicate he looks to flip assets for short term profits.

I think with the new TV deal alot of investors will buy into clubs knowing they can make a big profit in the long term. Outside of City and Chelsea I can see a number of clubs being bought out/invested in. Palace and hopefully us will just be the start in my opinion.

Who are the good owners that we're comparing the Americans to, by the way? Other than billionaires who have a football club as a status symbol, what is the ideal example of an owner we'd like to have? The Liebherrs at Southampton? Daniel Levy? The porn merchants at West Ham?

Arsenal aren't owned outright by Americans for one .?

I didn't even know millwall were owned by yanks

....a couple of points, the timing of this appears to align with LCC statement to defer their decision until the 'New Year'. Also, although concentration is on this bid I wonder if any other potential buyers are still involved but not as advanced in the process.

Although I can't profess to know the entire situation at the club, I didn't think Short had been too bad during his ownership of Sunderland.

Positive net spend (above £50m+ mark) and willing to spend reasonable amounts on player acquisition for a club that has regularly foundered.

I took it as he'd been let down by poor managers and their even worse signings. Clever signings and they wouldn't be such a mess.
