at a time when we were having to put up with freebies, loans, and sell to buy. villas chairman backed the manager financially, because he could. Lerner is not a billionaire, nor does he expect to make a quick buck and do one. and , if the rumours are true, HE LOOKED AT EVERTON. do i really have to paint a picture? im beginning to see a connection between supporting kenwright and being unable to see the bleeding obvious.
Myth unsubstantiated myth, started by a journalist in the comic known as the 'metro'.
No quote from lerner himself.

He's culpable. My problem with him is that when he talks of building the club he's talking about a 'new facility'. Well that's an all eggs in one basket policy that's led us into this present cul-de-sac. Since the latest stadium fiasco he's turned his attention to the Park End annexe to get things moving merchandise-wise. Now, leaving aside how lucrative a deal that may or may not have been for Everton, that plan is now in ruins because of legal obstacles that it's his job to cut through before announcements like the annexe are made.

Our predicament cant be laid solely at the door of Elstone, obviously, but he's going to have to show something more than just talking a good game about nurturing the 'brand'.

Still no offical line on the annexe, not even the presss have run with it.

holy ****, how much do you need spelling out? for a couple of seasons they have carried a much larger squad than us, albeit, without doing any better, on a similar income from sky and supporters. because off the field their income is better more, and they have someone who can invest in the squad. now look at us. can you see anything now?

Mate you have to take a step back and look at the comparrions here, they took on massive amounts of debt they cant afford, this isnt a good thing or having a go, it short sighted massively poor management from their board and major shareholder. Despite this they cant get near us. He didnt back the manajor financially, he lent/borrowed massive amounts and is now rolling back as the financial future of the club is hitting the rocks.

Debt is bad people, 120 mill in 5 years especially - poor poor management.

right, a tip for everyone, never post after imbibing almost a bottle of jack, you forget how to put your point across. the point i was trying to make was this, in the last three seasons, we have spent very little as a club, because we do not maximise our revenue streams anywhere near as much as we should. we have people laughing at villa for having to get rid of ten players, due to a manager having the funds, and NOT using them wisely. my point is, how can we laugh when in our case, its the board, not doing the job properly, yet our manager, who STILL gets critisism by the way, has excelled with crumbs. it makes me wonder just what we could have achieved, with a TENTH of what villa have wasted, . but we will never know because our board cannot even build an annexxe without becoming a farce .so laugh at villa, but the joke is on us really.

Nah the jokes on Villa.
Next season will show just how wrong the Lerner business model really is.
It's not hard to see why Lerner would love Moyes at Villa,he needs a manager who can survive on a shoestring budget to keep Villa in the prem.
Don't get me wrong, all's not rosy at everton, but things are a lot worse at Villa.Due in no small part to the massive financial gamble undertaken by Lerner.
Leeds anyone ?

Is this the 'at least we're not Villa' moment?

Funny we have these periodically....'at least were not Portsmouth/West Ham/Blackburn'....but Everton still remain a basket case going nowhere fast.

Oh how we laugh at the plight of others.

Wait until Villa sell Downing and Young in the summer....

Just to break even for the year.

They're losing money at a rate of x6 times the rate Everton are.

That takes some doing.

Wait until we sell Heitinga and Bilyaletdinov to go along with Yobo, Vaughan and the Yak.

You need to make your mind up. Two months ago you were calling the club poorly run and stating that Kenwright had to go (and that he would go).

The words inconsistency and hypocrisy hang heavy in the air.

Davek no disrespect mate, but it's in answer to those posters who where constantly 'bigging up' Randy Lerner and Villa.
Yet when the inevitable happens they still can't accept the shortcomings of Lerners business plan.

Yeah Davek. Something hangs very heavy.

It's called VILLA'S DEBT burden. Its enormous and would take years to pay off.

Very much this, im not so sure they got it wrong on signings or O Neill blew money per say they signed some very good players - they just spent more then they could afford bad bad club management.

Ha ha i was waiting for that, its always your first line of defence, lets be honest - you have bigged up almost all those takeovers and been a Learnerite, ridiculeing Everton in the process, you cant blame people for underlineing the fact that these vaulted models have imploded badly and some opinions stated in certainty by a few on here now seem fundementaly flawed.

You also have to admit that in this scenarios your own opinion has been questioned and proven flawed - given the context of these clubs implosians on and of the feild, you can understand why most supports accept the need for investment but are very cauitous about it.
