Did he say that???????????

This is the comment, mate.

"I worry for everton boardroom unrest could lead to a slide of relegation, as we saw effect liverpool, admittedly mainly roys doing. It is worth pointing that ticket prices for everton are modest and the stadium isnt bulging with fans, but there is commitment and besides high wages on a squad depth considerable for just such a mid table team, the only answer is that kenwright is pocketing if not.

I'd have a dig at evertonians and suggest moyes should be better in the transfer market and invest like Rafael benitez who after all only spent 10.5 mil on average per season. i.e alsonso in for 10 out for 30. I only mention this in irony since they have great belief that he was a rubbish manager, the irony.

On the other side of merseyside though, i do not wish our rivals to be relegated, as as much banter i could give, such a great city deserves two teams in this league, plus if the bitterness got any further, i'd top myself."

Typical bitter, deluded RS.

but its good to see a journalist actually GET IT, pity some of our own fans don't.

I dont think its a particular skill trolling forums, picking up on a general mood, at least Prentice posted an opinion in contary to popular mood of melt season with a reasoned arguement rather then one bourne out of frustration and emotion. Its very easy to be a sheep and react on emotion rather than common sense, this is pandering to the baseline - lack of analyse gallery. Which is sound because its relevent to some of our fan base unfortunately - but there is nothing very new or analytic in any of this. Populist journalism.

Great piece.

Good comment below too...

"£20m added to debt with the NTL
debacle. £5m from screwed up
ground moves. Approximately £20m
from interest payments on a terrible
securitisation deal.
The issue is NOT transfer spending,
the issue is incompetence when it
matters - stadium moves, investment,
retail development, loan deals, only
discovering fiscal responsibility when
forced to by the bank.
We've been very poorly run. Elstone's
competent but all he can do is keep
our head above water. The damage
was done years ago, it is just that
most people are only beginning to
notice as we fail to spend again. The
current board don't even have a plan
A anymore.
The reason we aren't spending isn't a
mature choice, it is a forced outcome
because Bill has mismanaged us into
a corner where we have no flexibility,
no options and cannot spend...on
anything...no matter how sensible that
might be.
Bill spent money he thought he had in
the bag from a deal with tv company
NTL to buy a minority stake in the club
before any deal was done or money
received. No deal was ever done.
This saddled us with unmanageable
overdrafts that Bill replaced with a 30
year deal brokered by Bear Stearns
but funded by the Prudential. This
cannot be rapaid early without
incurring a huge penalty and, just like
a mortgage, early payments are largely
interest with the outstanding debt
reducing slowly. The interest rates
have been very much worse than
those available on the open market.
To add insult to injury season ticket
revenue is used as security, restricting
access to other funding.
Kings Dock was going to cost us £30m
(probably more in reality as we would
also pay for fitting out but only £30m
up front). Bill spent 18 months saying
the money was ring-fenced only for it
not to be there when the moment
came. He turned down an offer from
another director, Paul Gregg, to fund it
because it would have given Gregg
operational control."

You're yesterdays man. Get out of the way!

To be fair mate, I think what you're seeing is not the trolling of forums by Reade, but the successful lobbying of a group of Evertonians who've beseeched the press to take up the cause. Journos then have the choice of deciding whether they're sympathetic to that cause or not. Reade is, and so went with the request. In other words: he listened without prejudice...if only a hack like Prentice could say the same, eh?

Of course, you're an apologist, so I dont expect you to think too hard about it all to see the difference. You just want Bill to get a free pass.

I understand that.

That's a great comment, really puts into context those on here that want to concentrate discussion of our financial position based solely on the current day position ("we're being prudently managed" ffs) ignoring 10 years of failure by the board and the opportunity cost of missed opportunities that have brought us to this position.

Neon wanted to draw up a business plan, with the expectation that this board could/would either implement it/implement it successfully. That's just not realistic based on their track record.

' refuses to meet with fans or even have dialogue with them".

Why has Elstone said the club met with fans every night last week then.

"But as custodians of a club they themselves branded The People’s Club, stonewalling those people is dangerous hypocrisy".

I'm not vehemently anti-Kenwright but that statement is so true. If the board would sit down with four or five of the lobbyists and explain properly what they're doing and why then it might just help.

I have just read article mirror, and I hope a lot more journalists take note of what is going on at boardroom level.Echo should feel ashamed that a kopite has tried and successfully highlighted some of our boards failings,a good article imo.

I find it amazing that finally the national press show empathy and support for us yet still there are some that fail to see the positives in this ! incredible in all honesty but hey, I guess football is a game of opinion so who am I to judge.

This is not an attack neiler, just a bit of a wake up call.

We (Evertonian) want, need change. Your living on a different planet.
