Really, that wasn't the case of course. After BK investigated
a name that had been suggested to
him it turned out to be a guy in a
bedsit. Thats the way I read what was
said in the BU 'transcript'. But of
course if you have an agenda with
little substance, the first thing you
have to be able to do is tell fairy
stories. Did Bill sell Everton to a guy
in a bedsit. NO he didn't. And THATS
a FACT.

Tut tut Steve, do your research. In Martin Samuel's shamefully gushing propaganda interview with BK, the man himself said the deal was quite far down the line, but he smelt a rat when the bedsit guy was a bit reluctant to meet up at an expensive London hotel. Both BK and Harris really should have took a back seat in the sale process after that fiasco.

Oh and of course BK had also agreed in principle to the FSF taking a controlling stake in the club, despite them clearly either not having the money, or not even existing in the first place!

No he wasn't

Keith Harris, who valued Everton in the region of £150m and was described by Simon Jordan as a man who delivered the square root of nothing, will be forever remembered by Evertonians as the person who, according to chairman Bill Kenwright, introduced an individual to Everton who, having conducted due diligence, was being chased by the chairman to complete the sale of the club when it was discovered he was a conman living in a Singapore [depending on which version the chairman is reiterating at the time] bedsit, after which Keith Harris paid the cost of the diligence.
Kenwright himself said due dilligence had been completed, and it was afterwards they discovered he lived in a bedsit. So yes Chris, he really was, and yes Steve, lets deal with the FACTS.

Hehehehehehe...Steve Wigan->everyone has an agenda against Bill.

Still that Poll at the top of the board is FACT......

I don't believe you are actually that dumb.....If I told you I was a multi millionaire would you believe it?
The poll at the top of this thread is an INTERNET poll...and the internet is were agendas are born and nurtured. Almost every chairman in the country would get negs in large quantities in an internet poll, except the recent Fulham chairman !!
How many at the last BU march?

Are you suggesting the chairman lied? Or are you so dumb you've called everything anyone else has said agenda driven while trying to fit events into yours and been hung by your own hero's words.

No, but Bill Kenwright would.

Here's Kenwright's actual words:
They knew the small details of the club, the move to Stanley Park, the move to Kirkby. They had instructed a serious legal firm, they did due diligence, their costs alone must have been £150,000. We were six months down the line and the guy from Thailand was coming over to sign it all off.

'Then he was delayed due to the ash cloud, and it dragged on. Finally he said he was flying in Saturday, so I asked where he was staying and he said the Dorchester. But there was a small pause before he said it, a catch in his voice as if he had to think of a name, and I froze.

'I asked how he would get to my office and he said on the Tube. And that was it. We were doing a big deal for a film and I had a team of investigators on hand for that, so I asked them to run a check on these two. And on Friday a brown envelope arrived. And I turned the page, and turned another page, and with each one it got worse.

'The offices were rented, the Far East link lived in a one-bedroom flat in the worst part of the city, the Manchester guy was a small-time inventor, no more. They never arrived. And I have no idea why they did it, or how they did it. Maybe they thought they could secure the deal, then raise the funds. The problem was I wanted to believe. And I'll meet anyone if they sound straight.

The Jaguars (his NFL team) had 1 main asset (Maurice Jones-Drew) and he would not budge on resigning him so MJD heldout. They only fill about half their stadium and his focus has been on turning the jaguars into "London's Home team" and isn't even trying to fix the issues he has in his own city).
Most of this is true but the attendance thing with the Jags isn't really true (although I'm guilty of this mistake myself). The Jags sold more tickets last year than Chicago and Pittsburgh: http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance/_/year/2012

Granted they have lower ticket prices but they are 20th (out of 32) which isn't great but it's hardly a catastrophe. The NFL (and by extension the media) want to move the Jags so they paint the fanbase as being bad. It's not. It's average and they deserve better than being the punchline to every joke.

This is a land and investment deal for him, no love of sports or either franchise (Fulham or Jaguars).
Agreed. I wouldn't want him as our owner ... but it is also depressing to add another club to the list while we don't seem to get a sniff.

Have to laugh at people using 'selling to the right buyer' to defend the current regime. Kenwright was ready to hand over control to a guy in a bedsit ffs

Kenwright himself said due dilligence had been completed, and it was afterwards they discovered he lived in a bedsit. So yes Chris, he really was, and yes Steve, lets deal with the FACTS.

Lets review your original statement:
Kenwright was ready to hand over control to a guy in a bedsit

So lets deal with FACT's, as you put it. Kenwright was not about to hand over the club to guy in a bedsit at all. You are implying that Kenwirght knew he lived in a bedsit and had agreed to sell the club to him; which he never.

What happend was, Kenwright and the board had gone through due dilligence with an interested party, and on later investigation discovered that this so called 'buyer' was a scam artist living in a 'bedsit'.

So, yes, my initial response to your statement was correct; no he wasn't. FACT

Did Bill sell Everton to this bedsit guy?
Wasn't the bedsit guy the liar?

Not to our fans, which really is all I'm arsed about.

So is Brennan soft for believing what the Chairman said in a supposedly recorded convo or is Bill a liar?

I think we both know.

Whether he sold it or not he was a pause on a phone away from selling us to a sham group and yet you can bring yourself to question him?

There's two agenda's running through this thread people concerned about the institution and people who are concerned about Bill Kenwright. It's not hard to see who belongs to each one.

on the fence with this one, the fact the board did or did not get taken in by a con artist is really irrelevant, it didnt complete which is comforting. the end of the day the club is a business and will only be sold for profit, and no one is willing to pay the kind of money to cover all the costs (stadium, debt players etc)

Erm, no. The whole point is that Kenwright is so clueless he only discovered the guy lived in a bedsit at the last minute. Please keep up.

The quotes i posted were from a Daily Mail interview, not the recorded conversation with the Blue Union.
