I love how someone posts hearsay from a source that's deemed as 100% reliable, despite never having given them any other similar 'privvy' info......and it's expected to be taken as bona fide fact....

Believe what you like mate, it ultimately makes no odds anyway, but you can't post it as fact, as you can't corroborate it.

I know it as fact. I know from first hand conversation with no reason to disbelieve - I was informed about his rejected approach before Lerner was mentioned in the press as being interested in Villa...

Billy Bluestar.
There are probably half a dozen clubs in world football that have been taken over successfully by billionaires.
Everton is within a stones throw of a much bigger, much more successful neighbour, we have a ground which requires replacing and you want to know why the same hasn't happened to us as has happened to City.

Are you serious ?
Erm and man city were not a stones throw away from a successful club? There's a little team down the road called Manchester united.
Heard this somewhere before to be honest.
Anyway, I said man city as the poster was lauding it about kenwrights achievements, so I was using man city, as a comparison.

Hafnia.
I am no doubting that Lerner asked about buying Everton. I am sure that he hasn't been the only one.
But, seeing the mess that Villa are in should we not be thanking Bill Kenwright that he rebuffed him.

My memory of Martin O Neill at Villa is slightly different to yours.
I remember Villa being talked about as a team on the periphery of CL under MON and yes the club spent a lot of money on players.
I remember Barry,Milner,Young being sold and the heart being ripped out of the team.
My memory was that Lerner had pumped money into the club and wanted some of his investment back.
This meant the funds from sales was not reinvested in new players. O Neill could not see a successful future for the club and walked.

see everton were awarded 85mill tv money for this season.seems fair like when you compere it with lfc only 12mill more despite being shown live 28 games.although thats great money for us..one wonders were it all goes of course..however there is a side effect for this.obviously the most shown games abroad and worldwide get increased exposure and are then able to cash in also via commercial enterprises and sponsership..never mind shirt sales.we can laugh at some of them like the doughnut deals and that but seeing we are on american tv live now why cant we get into this free money available.our marketing team seem light years away from tapping into the worldwide markets..we finished 5th and at a late stage had it in us to get c/l qualification.read thousands of posts made up that liv never won the league.but however happy everyone seems to be i cant help reflecting that we blew it even more than them.southampton and palace hurt and so did the city one in my eyes.lets hope martinez can drag us into this elite this season and maybe he can make a start by demanding more of that tv money to buy us some players and not only shortfilled loan arrangements..they should be for small clubs or championship clubs really..
i know its not all money related...look at spurs..but surely its now or never for us.with a forward thinking manager now in tow and it seems a loyal one as well we really should be looking forward to the new season.
utd will spring back next season despite the fore
casts of long term gloom it wont happen.6 to 1 odds same as liverpool says it all.
the europa league although welcome of course should start our awareness of everton theme throughout europe..only got to look at the athletico madrid example for that and lets hope they can manage to win the c/l final against a socalled bigger local team.love those fans.
read the recents posts here on lanalla who has gone from being cast as a great player for us..as well as being an evertonion...to one of being overated purely because the reds are now after him..hope this mindset can be altered soon by some of our fans.with our support and attendences coupled with the tv money i see no reason why efc cant challenge for these players or similar types.

But big companies will sell a valuable finished proprty at a high value and lease back at a fraction of the price. Our board did the opposite

Not really..we did the same but on a smaller scale than the HSBC, BHS, and others, big players in the sell and lease back game.

It baffles me that people think there is some Fairy Godmother out there who will wave a magic wand and EFC will have lots of money, a shiney new stadium and UCL football. Get a grip and look where we have come from and where we are now. Look at our financial position versus other similar clubs. Look at the squad we have. Look at the Youth set up. Look at the coaches. look at the Community work. Look at the season ticket sales. Look at Villa, Newcastle, Sunderland etc etc They would give their eye teeth to be where we are.

Came from being the Champions of England and members of the top table to little old Everton punching above our weight.
